In for its annual MoT and service, 1937 Ford Model Y. Although techincally exempt from the MoT we can't stress enough how important it is to have your classic checked over every year for your own safety. A second set of eyes looking at things is always a good idea and we've seen many instances where enthusiast owners have been unaware of dangerous defects.

Today's great example of why turning the radio up to hide that noise is not a good idea. What would have been a £100 job to replace the pads on this van turned into a £400 job to replace the discs and a caliper too, which had all been damaged as a result of driving with the pads worn through to the metal.

Wonderful to see one of our younger customers, Purdie Hadfield, out on the road enjoying her little MGB Sebring. Car was in the workshop a few months ago for suspension and brake overhaul plus a new Goldseal engine fitting.

As the cold weather starts to creep in now would be a good time to give your car a quick health check - is your battery up to scratch? Antifreeze tested? This 2018 Skoda would have the battery flatten after a few days if not being used - the fault being a cell down - customer got it swapped out before they got stranded. Battery checks are FREE at Shard Garage and all batteries are supplied and fitted with a minimum of 3 year warranty.

Beautiful little Moggy panel van bought this weekend at The Gold Cup, in today for some little finishing touches and safety checks before Bill Isles-Heardman gets out on the road. Tune up, some electrical and brake work plus new ethanol-resistant fuel lines all fitted today.

This week we've been doing some repair work on the floorpans of this Arden-kitted Jaguar XKR. These suffer quite badly with the old tin worm, but warrant doing the job properly as they are a future classic for sure.
