I thought I'd share something with you to consider with regards to worry.
Everyday I hear horror stories from worried pupils about their driving tests/lessons. Most of the stories come from friends, or friends of friends etc
Endless stories about 'nasty examiners' ... tests being cancelled...shockingly stressful tests...that kind of thing.
I tell my pupils, if they paid a lot of attention to the rumours...And if they weren't so aware of how their THOUGHTS create THEIR feelings...
They will end up wasting lots of time worrying about what they were hearing from other people.
"Will my examiner be nice...will it be cancelled...what if i have to reverse.....what if i make a mistake?".
Thing is, I know what worry does.
And I know how pointless it is.
Especially with something so out of my own control.
When it comes to worry there is a great quote to illustrate what a waste of energy it is...
"Spending time worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but doesn't get you anywhere".
Isn't that a brilliant visual image?
I could have spent the weeks and days leading up to my driving test riddled with worry if I paid attention to the stories.
I could have let my thoughts run away with me so I felt more in "control" by spending lots of time thinking about it.
But what a waste it would have been!
Rocking away mentally, going nowhere but feeling awful.
Thankfully I didn't do any of that...
I knew to not waste my time and that, if there were any issues, I'd have handled it.
Turns out - there were no issues at all.
Funny how that is so often the case, isn't it?
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. ITS IN YOUR HANDS.
YOU CAN DO IT!!
