PD105 ➜ PD130 Caddy Swaps – Service Update

After a lot of thought, we’ve made the decision to stop offering remapping for 1.9 TDI PD105 to PD130 engine swaps, and these options will now be removed from our website.

This isn’t because these conversions can’t be made to run well—many of the ones we’ve mapped have been a great success. The problem is that every swap is different, and they often involve a mixture of parts, modified wiring, sensor differences, vacuum issues, boost leaks, fuel system faults and countless other variables that simply can’t be diagnosed through a remap.

In one recent case, we spent months supporting a customer, replying at all hours of the day and even while we were away on holiday with our children, trying to help diagnose an issue that we repeatedly explained was extremely unlikely to be caused by the calibration.

The customer also sought the opinion of another tuner. They had their own views on how they might have calibrated the file—which is completely normal, as every tuner has their own methods—but importantly, they also agreed there was nothing within the calibration that would cause the reported boost issue.

We were so confident in our work that we even offered to refund the mapping cost if another tuner could identify a fault within our calibration that was causing the boost issue and fix it. Here we are many months later, and no evidence has been provided that the map was ever the cause.

No tuner is perfect, and every tuner has a different approach. That doesn’t automatically mean a calibration is faulty or that a refund is justified. You choose the tuner you trust, and we’ll always stand behind our work. If we make a mistake, we’ll fix it. If a map genuinely needs adjusting, we’ll adjust it. But we can’t accept responsibility for mechanical or electrical faults simply because a vehicle has been remapped.

For that reason, we’ve decided these PD105 to PD130 swaps are no longer a service we wish to offer. They too often become lengthy remote diagnostic jobs rather than straightforward remaps, and unfortunately it’s no longer worthwhile for us as a business.

We also want to make one thing very clear. This post is not about shaming or naming anyone. It’s simply explaining why we’ve made this business decision. If you happen to see posts elsewhere regarding this situation, you’ll probably know which case we’re referring to, but we won’t be naming individuals or arguing online. We’ve said our piece, we’ve done everything we reasonably could to help, and we genuinely hope the vehicle is eventually resolved.

Finally, a huge thank you to every single loyal customer who continues to trust PDpower Remaps. Over the years we’ve had countless occasions where we’ve advised that a fault wasn’t map-related, only for a mechanical or electrical issue to be found later. Sometimes those customers come back and let us know, and sometimes we never hear from them again—and that’s absolutely fine.

We genuinely appreciate those who trust our experience, work with us to diagnose problems properly, and understand that not every fault after a remap is caused by the remap.

Thank you all for your continued support. ❤️

✅ Another happy customer!

This PD130 Ibiza came in feeling lazy with poor power. It had an unknown hybrid turbo (no size markings) and had reportedly cost around £340 to tune elsewhere.

A full health check found a fault code for the MAP sensor, and after checking the calibration we also found several issues, including the Start of Injection limiter being reduced to around half of the factory values, severely limiting performance.

As the turbo was an unknown hybrid, we played it safe and calibrated it around a 150 hybrid core, keeping boost to a sensible 1.7 bar peak rather than pushing unknown hardware.

We also added deep idle, set popcorn to 4,600 rpm (the previous tune revved to 5,500 rpm), corrected the calibration, and advised replacing the faulty MAP sensor.

The result? A much stronger, smoother and more responsive car. 💪 We expect it to run even cleaner and perform even better once the new MAP sensor is fitted.

This is why it’s always worth having your car serviced and health checked before assuming it’s “just the map”. Sometimes it’s a mechanical fault, sometimes it’s the calibration, and in this case it was both. 👌

We’ll never understand why some tuners spend so much time jumping into social media groups just to slate another company that has never said a bad word about them. Even more amusing is when you confront them and they simply block you after replying with abuse. 🤣

If you know what this is about and saw the post, you’ll know the funniest part… it wasn’t even one of our tunes, yet we still somehow got dragged into it. 🤣

It seems if you don’t agree with them, ask a question, or happen to be another tuner, you get hurled abuse, called a “dog”, then blocked. 🤣 Imagine the customer service if you actually needed help. 🥲

We’d much rather spend our time helping customers than trying to pull another business down. We barely find time to cook a proper meal these days, never mind spend hours commenting on Facebook trying to win customers through negativity.

What also amazes us is how some people think they can judge an entire calibration from a 30-second Facebook video. You can’t see the datalogs, the boost control, EGTs, AFR/lambda, fuel pressure, timing, or any of the safety strategies from a video. You also don’t know the customer’s modifications, what they asked for, or whether they specifically requested more smoke, less smoke, more torque, unsafe add-ons such as bangs or anything else.

The only people who know the full story are the customer and the tuner who wrote the file. That’s why you’ll never see us jumping onto someone else’s post claiming their map is good or bad without knowing the facts. We prefer facts over Facebook gossip and Chinese whispers.

Every tuner has their own way of doing things, and that’s absolutely fine. We simply choose to produce safe, reliable calibrations that make strong, usable power without chasing unnecessary numbers. Others may choose to push things harder by default—that’s entirely up to them.

Finally, a massive thank you to every single one of our loyal customers. Your repeat business, recommendations and support mean everything to us. We’d rather let our work and our customers speak for us than spend our time trying to tear someone else down. 👊❤️

Just a quick message to all customers.

This week has been particularly hectic and I’ve had some personal matters to deal with alongside a high volume of orders, messages, and file requests. As a result, some replies and map deliveries are taking longer than usual.

I understand this can be inconvenient and I sincerely apologise to anyone currently waiting for a response, file, or update.

Please rest assured that nobody has been forgotten. I’m working through everything as quickly as possible and will do my best to get back to all messages, logs, and map requests as soon as I can.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support of PDpower Remaps. It really is appreciated. 👍
