🚦 Fun Facts Friday! 🚦
Did you know… The first British driving licence was issued in 1903! Back then, you didn’t even need a test — you just paid 10 shillings (50p) and got your licence. Tests only became compulsory in 1935!

🎉 Massive Congratulations to Our Latest Driving Test Pass! 🎉
Today, Olivia, one of our amazing pupils passed her driving test on her 5th attempt, and we couldn't be prouder! 🚗👏
At North-West Disability Driving Centre, we believe that disability, whether physical or neurological, should never be a barrier to achieving independence. Yes, the journey may take a little longer for some, but one thing is certain... giving up is never an option.
Olivia showed incredible determination, resilience, and courage throughout her learning journey. Every setback was met with a willingness to learn, improve, and keep moving forward. Today, all that hard work has paid off.
Passing a driving test isn't about how many attempts it takes. It's about reaching your goal and gaining the freedom and independence that comes with it.
I am immensely proud of all my pupils. Watching them grow in confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve something they once thought impossible brings me so much joy and happiness. Being part of their journey to independence is a privilege that I never take for granted.
Well done, Olivia ! Enjoy your freedom, stay safe, and remember just how much you've achieved. 🌟
Never give up. Never stop believing. Success comes to those who keep going. 💙

🚗 ZIP-MERGING: QUEUE-JUMPING OR SMARTER TRAFFIC FLOW?

Ever sat in a long lane-closure queue while drivers continue using the seemingly empty lane before merging at the closure?

It might look like queue-jumping — but zip-merging is actually encouraged by National Highways when carried out safely.

🚘 Drivers are encouraged to:
• Use both lanes up to the point of closure
• Merge in turn, one vehicle at a time
• Maintain a steady speed and safe gap
• Signal and check mirrors before moving over

The Highway Code’s Rule 134 recommends merging in turn where it is safe to do so.

🚨 However, deliberately blocking another vehicle, forcing your way into traffic or making aggressive manoeuvres can create a dangerous situation.

So next time you see someone travelling down the "empty" lane before a closure, they may not be queue-jumping — they could actually be helping traffic flow.

Would you let someone merge in turn, or do you think drivers should queue early? 👇
