We had a visit from the 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝗽-𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗻 today!

At 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘅, we’re always looking for ways to improve the service we offer our customers, whether that’s keeping up with the latest diagnostic technology, investing in new equipment or expanding our knowledge.

It was great to get hands-on with some of the latest diagnostic tools and see what’s new!

Take a look at those missing teeth!

This timing belt has started to fail, and once the teeth strip away, the belt can no longer keep the engine correctly timed. If it lets go completely, the result can be 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹

Timing belts don’t always give you much warning before they fail, which is why it’s so important to have yours replaced at the manufacturer’s recommended interval.

🚗🔧𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗣𝗟𝗨𝗚 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗔𝗟 – 𝗜𝗧’𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗔𝗟𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦 𝗔𝗦 𝗦𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗔𝗦 𝗜𝗧 𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗦!🔧🚗

Changing spark plugs might seem like a straightforward job… until one decides it doesn’t want to come out!

Over time, spark plugs can become seized or extremely tight in the cylinder head due to heat cycles, corrosion, carbon build-up or previous incorrect fitting.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:
• Seized spark plugs that refuse to move
• Spark plugs snapping or breaking during removal
• Damaged threads in the cylinder head
• Parts of the plug becoming stuck inside the head
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿.

This is why we take care when removing stubborn plugs rather than simply forcing them out. Sometimes specialist tools, techniques and a bit of patience are needed to avoid further damage.

If your vehicle is due a service or you’re experiencing misfires, rough running, poor starting or reduced performance, your spark plugs could be worth checking.
