We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us during the recent devastating events, and for all the donations we’ve received — it truly means a lot.

For those who aren’t aware of what happened: our van was destroyed in a freak accident.
The fire department believes it was caused by a tin of brake cleaner that self-combusted. Thankfully, no one was hurt, although it was a very close call.

The fire was a total loss — the vehicle and all of our tools were completely destroyed, with nothing salvageable.
As mobile mechanics, losing both our transport and equipment meant we had no choice but to temporarily close KA Autos.
Unfortunately, our insurance found a loophole, so we received no payout.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working hard to rebuild from scratch. We’re now able to take on small jobs again as we slowly replace our tools and equipment. We’ll continue to share updates and the work we’re able to complete along the way.

A customer came to us with a vehicle they had recently purchased which had been sat unused for some time.

We carried out a pre-MOT inspection, supplied and fitted a new battery, completed a few minor repairs, and then took the vehicle for its MOT test.

The MOT resulted in an advisory for a track rod end. For peace of mind, the customer has asked us to replace it and is now booked in to have the work completed.

A customer came to us today after experiencing loud, worrying noises from his vehicle, which became much worse when braking.

Upon inspection, the severity of the issue was immediately clear. The brakes were heavily worn, with the rear pads completely gone. This was a serious safety concern.

We fitted new discs and pads all round, and the vehicle is now back on the road — most importantly, safe to drive again.

One of our loyal customers contacted us with concerns about an unusual noise while driving.

Upon inspection, we found that the nearside front wheel bearing had failed, to the point that it fell apart during removal. While carrying out the repair, we also identified additional issues: the lower ball joint had excessive play, and the rubber bushes in the lower suspension arm were deteriorated and cracked.

Repairs carried out:

Pressed in and fitted a new nearside front wheel bearing
Replaced the lower ball joint
Replaced the lower suspension arm components as required

All repairs were completed promptly, and the vehicle was returned to the customer safe, quiet, and ready to continue her journeys with confidence.

Customer Concern & Inspection Findings

The customer uses his 4x4 for mountain rescue and recovery work and requested a fast, professional repair. He reported concern over the front wheel positioning, as it was rubbing on the wheel arch, abnormal wear on the rear tyres, and an issue with the battery not holding charge.

Upon inspection, we identified the following faults:

The battery was faulty and unable to hold charge.
The front nearside lower suspension arm was severely contorted.
The front nearside lower ball joint had failed.
The front track rod end was damaged.
The offside rear spring had snapped.

Repairs Carried Out

Supplied and fitted a new battery.
Replaced the front nearside lower arm, lower ball joint, and track rod end with new components.
At the customer’s request, replaced both rear springs and rear shock absorbers as a pair.

Outcome

All repairs have been completed to a high standard. The vehicle is now correctly aligned, safe to drive, and back on the road—ready to return to active service and save another day.

BMW 2 series
Customer reported abnormal noises from the rear of the vehicle. Recent MOT advisory noted worn/pitted brake components.

Work Requested:
Customer requested replacement of rear brake discs and pads, and front brake pads.

Work Carried Out:

Replaced rear brake discs and pads as requested

Replaced front brake pads as requested

Additional Findings:
During inspection, the source of the rear-end noise was identified as loose wheels caused by incorrectly sized wheel bolts that were too long.

Corrected wheel bolt size and secured wheels correctly, resolving the noise issue

Additional Work Completed:

Supplied and fitted upgraded steering wheel for a more modern appearance

Coded steering wheel to vehicle

Further Issues Reported by Customer:

Central locking intermittent/faulty

Driver’s window inoperative

Diagnostics & Repairs:

Performed full vehicle diagnostic

Identified blown fuse behind dashboard affecting the central locking control module

Replaced fuse; central locking now fully operational

Inspected driver’s window mechanism

Found window regulator damaged, with wiring corroded, rusted, and snapped

Removed window assembly

Cut out damaged mechanism

Supplied and fitted new window guides and wiring

Tested window operation successfully

Final Checks:
All repairs tested and confirmed working correctly.

Outcome:
Vehicle returned to customer in full working order. Customer can now drive with confidence and peace of mind.

🚗 Customer Breakdown Turned Success Story! 🔧

We were recently contacted by a worried customer after their car completely died—right after they’d used it to jump-start another vehicle. A universal OBD reader was showing fault codes pointing to a failed ECU… understandably, they thought the worst. 😬

We were their last hope, so we got straight to work. After plugging in our diagnostic tools, we saw a few fault codes—but nothing suggesting the ECU was gone. Trusting our gut, we popped the bonnet to check for mechanical issues… and good thing we did!

👀 It didn’t take long to spot a problem with the starter motor—one of the fixing bolts was missing, and the motor itself had failed. We swapped it out with a new one, cleared the codes, and just like that… the car fired up perfectly. 🙌

✅ One very relieved customer, and one car saved from the scrapyard!

Customer Concern:
The customer reported unusual movement in the steering, particularly noticeable when cornering at high speed. While we do not encourage high-speed driving, ensuring vehicle safety remains our top priority.

Inspection & Diagnosis:
Upon inspection, we identified excessive play in both the near-side (N/S) drop links and the N/S track rod end, which were contributing to the instability experienced by the customer.

Work Carried Out:
We replaced both N/S drop links and the N/S track rod end.

Outcome:
Following the replacement of these components, the vehicle now handles correctly, and the customer is safely back on the road.
