One of our favourite comments from Archie after his installation was:

"The opportunity to remove the glass has introduced a new concept we have not experienced before – fresh air! It was like sleeping outside with a slight breeze in the bedroom!"

Since leaving his review, Archie has been back in touch after another trip out and shared another great observation:

"We were out on the boat last week and really enjoyed taking the glass out of the frames for more fresh air. Quite strange to see people walking past wondering why we had no windows! The extra glass not having the bus window bars is great.

Normally after a run out in hot weather the inverter in the engine room runs for ages when you stop. Having two open windows this time it didn't run." 👍

🔧 On the Fit – N/B Audrey | Alvechurch Marina

Another thermal break transformation completed, this time aboard N/B Audrey at Alvechurch Marina. ⚓

For Audrey's owners, one of the biggest reasons for choosing our thermally broken windows was creating a more comfortable environment aboard for their family, particularly with a very young child on board.

Condensation was an important consideration. Our thermal break design physically separates the internal and external aluminium sections of the frame, significantly reducing thermal transfer through the aluminium and helping to reduce the condensation associated with cold window frames.

Reducing persistent condensation and moisture around the windows can also help reduce the damp conditions in which mould and bacterial growth can thrive – particularly important to this young family.

With Audrey having a large number of windows, a mixture of opening and fixed pane designs was chosen. Full hopper openings provide plenty of ventilation where it's needed, while fixed panes were used in positions where an opening wasn't necessary, helping to keep the overall cost of the project down.

Every window was made to measure for Audrey and installed at Alvechurch Marina by our fitting team, with the existing internal timber surrounds retained around the new windows.

Another beautiful narrowboat has just been transformed. ✅

This time we were at Worcester Marina fitting a full set of our thermally broken full hopper windows with dark grey tinted glass to Narrowboat Buru Island.

📍 On the Measure – Shakespeare Marina, Stratford-upon-Avon

Another beautiful day out on the waterways! ☀️

Today, Matt was at Shakespeare Marina measuring a narrowboat for a complete upgrade to our thermally broken double glazed windows.

It was also great to catch up with Lorraine, the Marina Manager. Thank you for the warm welcome!

Every boat we work on is individually measured, allowing each window to be manufactured specifically for that boat and helping to ensure a precise fit when installation day arrives.

We're looking forward to returning in the coming weeks to complete the transformation and will be sure to share some photos once the new windows are installed.

⭐ Channelglaze Customer Story

A complete transformation.

Fresh from a beautiful new paint job at Mills Dockyard, Long Eaton, Narrowboat Mallard was ready for the finishing touches before returning to her home mooring at Shardlow Marina, Derby.

We were proud to complete the project by supplying and fitting a full set of our thermally broken windows, together with new solid oak internal trims.

After the installation, Lisa sent us this lovely message:

"Amazing experience from all of you!! Our new windows are fab!!!"

She also had some wonderful things to say about our team:

🚤 Another quality installation by Channelglaze!

We recently fitted gold anodised thermal break windows and portholes to the beautifully repainted narrowboat Bella at North Kilworth Marina.

Not only do they look fantastic, but our thermal break windows help keep boats cooler during the summer, warmer in the winter, and reduce condensation all year round.

When Alan started thinking about replacing the windows on Narrowboat Tranquillity V, he didn't begin by looking for a window company.

Instead, he asked fellow boat owners.

Two friends who had already upgraded their boats with our thermal break windows both told him the same thing:

"Warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer – go for it!"

So he did.

Pictured here at Crick Marina, Alan recently put those claims to the test during a two-week cruise in June's hot weather.

His verdict?

☀️ "Our trip in June proved that the 'cooler in the summer' predictions were correct."

As well as making the boat more comfortable, Alan discovered an unexpected bonus. The new full hopper windows made the boat feel bigger and more open inside.
