BSCRA F2 this Wednesday was replaced by a special event sponsored by M & V Models Our Place. An endurance race celebrating the Le Mans 24 hour race using 1/32 club cars was organised with prizes for the winning team and a raffle prize. Flo and Matthew Lukeman together with Dave Warren arrived early and prepared the room and cars with a suitable French vibe (see photos). Dave W even supplied a varied selection of French pastries to help us through the racing.
Teams were picked from a hat apart from Matt and Flo who raced as M&V, and Graham Woodward and Keith Packer who arrived slightly late due to the infamous Aston Expressway being closed.
Teams:-
Bottom: Duncan Bullock and James Noake
Two Steves: Steve Talbot and Stephen Rhodes
Inbetweeners: David Beeching and Barrie Wildfat Gregory
Steam Machine: Dave W and Emma Pedley
Unlucky: Nigel Pedley and Paul Stokes
Leicester: Woody and Keith
M&V: Matt and Flo
Using the sit out method, the seven teams were rotated with each driver racing two stints of 15 minutes each. The club cars behaved themselves impeccably with no problems throughout. The racing lasted for 2 hours finishing with enough time for Matt and Flo to present the prizes (see photos). Team Bottom won a Slot It car each and Paul's raffle win was a superb die cast model. Again many thanks to M&V (their shop in Alcester is well worth a visit) for sponsoring the event and Dave Warren for making it all happen.
Next week it's hard bodied Tiddlers (championship event) and hard bodied Libre.

Final reminder for our Le Mans event this Wednesday June 10th. Please note the early starting time !!!!!!
Practice will be from 6.30pm with the race starting promptly at 7.45pm.
The event has been kindly sponsored by our member Matt Lukeman of M & V Models Our Place who has supplied some great prizes for the winners (see picture!). There will also be themed refreshments to keep the teams going, so, please come along and join in the fun.

With the help of Matt who will team up with his daughter Flo (both wearing team M&V T shirts 😀) we have devised the inaugural rules for the competition, which are as as follows,

1. Each team consists two drivers. The selection of which can be pre determined or decided on the night.
2. Each driver must complete a 15 minute session in each of the four lanes
3.At the end of each 15 minute session the cars will be returned to the starting line as per normal club cars and to represent a pit stop.
4. The total race time is 2 hours per team. This is an endurance event remember. 😉
5. To make it as fair as possible club cars are being used. Your own controllers are allowed.
6. No Track Calls are allowed. Should you come off the track, the clock and race continues to run until you are put back on by a marshal. If a major mechanical fault with a car occurs, then it is at the discretion of race control as to whether the race is stopped. A car failure affects all teams not just one.

Good luck to all the drivers taking part 🏁🏁🏁😀😀😀

A much less hot evening than last time attracted 10 racers to try their hand at Intro32 racing at Oaklands this Wednesday. Although Dave Warren, Emma and Nigel Pedley couldn't make it, Doug Pinkerton from Black Country Slot Car Raceway and our very own Mick Metcalfe joined in with the regulars.
Fastest lap qualifying was again used to sort out who raced who in the finals.
In the C final Matthew Lukeman from M & V Models Our Place looked likely for the win until Doug overtook him in the final heat. Matt's daughter Flo (who states that she is now as tall as her mother) had a good amount of fast laps but couldn't quite catch her dad.
The B final found Steve Talbot and Paul Stokes chasing the tail of David Beeching to no avail as Dave racked up a total that gave him third place overall.
The A final compromised of 4 drivers who had below 5 second qualifying laps. Three of the cars were brushless Genesis with Mick using his brushed version. Barrie Wildfat Gregory set off the quickest to lead after the first heat, with the others in close attendance. In heat 2 Stephen Rhodes managed to get into a lead with his lowered axle Genesis that he then held onto throughout. Heats 3&4 saw Mick consolidate his lead over Duncan Bullock and Barrie who decided he didn't like red lane at all!
Next week it's our one off Le Mans event using our 1/32 club cars (see additional posts for details).

All windows and doors were fully open on one of the hottest days of the year, as six regular members raced their hard-bodied F1 and Tin Top cars around the Oaklands Park circuit. Half-term holidays, busy work schedules, and the race controller feeling unwell at the last moment (hope you’re feeling better, Stephen Rhodes) meant our numbers were a little less than usual. However, that didn’t stop a great night of close and competitive racing.
First up was F1 with everyone using NSR cars. The first heat saw a good win for David Beeching with Steve Talbot taking second place from Paul Stokes. The next heat saw Duncan Bullock speed off into an early lead, hotly pursued by Barrie Wildfat Gregory, but as their tyres started struggling for grip, Dave Warren was able to peg them both back and take not only the heat win but also overall first place.
A quick break for tea, water, and warm, gooey Tunnocks, and we were ready for Tin Tops. Steve T was racing his new car, purchased at the recent Gaydon Slot festival, however, it was Dave Beeching who took his revenge on Dave Warren by beating him into second place and winning not only the heat but also overall first place. The second heat followed, and Barrie and Duncan were pushing each other strongly, but then Paul, with his new Thunderslot Shelby Mustang, found his feet. With his best drive so far since joining the club, he sprinted past both to take the heat win and finish third overall, his first podium finish. Well done Paul!
Next week we return to sponge tyres and Lexan bodies with Intro 32 cars, followed by our inaugural Le Mans event the week after on June 10th.
We race all types of slot cars and have great fun, why not come along and join us? We meet every Wednesday from 7.30 pm onwards.
