We were a few regulars down for this Wednesday's BSCRA F2 racing. Steve Talbot was unwell (get well soon Steve), Dave Warren was seduced by the bright lights of London to stay for a few days after his daughter's wedding at the weekend, Doug Pinkerton had a committee meeting and James Noake was recovering from his racing at the Worlds in Finland. We did however have visits from David Ensor from Leicester Electricity Slot Car Club and Alex Krupskaya from North Staffs Scalextric Racing Club.
With only seven racers we let Lapmaster sort out the finals.
In the first final Barrie Wildfat Gregory was forced to use a club car as his own lost its front axle in practice and he subsequently failed to challenge for the lead. The car of David Beeching wasn't behaving itself until the final heats when he produced the fastest lap and finished second. The win was taken by Alex with a recently purchased car from SCJ and would have challenged for the overall win had not the motor fallen out at the end of heat 3. Alex used a spare car in heat 4. Alex is getting to know the track well and is quite capable of getting a win very soon.
In the second final Paul Stokes struggled with his F2 and finished behind David E who is still developing his latest Mack. Second was Duncan Bullock not far behind Stephen Rhodes who took the overall win. The overall results are as per the photo.
The evening showed how difficult F2 can be with breakages and handling - but it can be very rewarding when it all clicks into place.
Next week it's hard bodied Libre and Tiddlers right after a track clean.

Wednesday evening 1/32 BSCRA sports racing attracted 3 racers from the North Staffs Scalextric Racing Club and 1 from Black Country Slot Car Raceway. There were 11 racers in all, so fastest lap qualifying was used to see who raced who. After Lapmaster had sorted out the order, we went straight into the first final. This was won by Dean Byatt of NSSRC with a brushed Genesis from Paul Stokes who raced his brushless Genesis for the first time. Third was Oscar Byatt of NSSRC with a brushed Genesis from Doug Pinkerton who had problems with his brushless Genesis and retired before the end.
The second final was a win for David Beeching racing his brushless Genesis for the first time from Alex Krupskaya of NSSRC who had the highest placed brushed Genesis. Third was Steve Talbot who also used a brushless Genesis and fourth having an absolute nightmare was Barrie Wildfat Gregory (it'll get better Barrie).
The third final provided some very quick close racing with Stephen Rhodes just edging out Mick Metcalfe by just over a lap. Third was Duncan Bullock who probably had his best race yet. All three used brushless Genesis.

Next week it's BSCRA F2 racing - a difficult class to master but good fun trying to!

Update on the Oaklands Park championship after 5 rounds. In the lead is Barrie with 41 points from Duncan with 37 points. There are 3 rounds to go hard bodied Libre, hard bodied Tin Tops and BSCRA F2 - plenty of chances to improve your position.

For various reasons we were a few racers down this Wednesday for our scheduled hard bodied F1 and Tin Tops racing. We did however have a welcome return for Matthew Lukeman from M & V Models Our Place and a visit from Doug Pinkerton from Black Country Slot Car Raceway.
With seven racers Lapmaster was used to randomly select who raced who.
First up was hard bodied F1 and in the first final Stephen Rhodes finished ahead of David Beeching and the ever improving Paul Stokes. In the second final Dave Warren won from Duncan Bullock, Matt and Doug who did very well considering his experience with these cars. Overall it was a win for Steve R from Dave B with Dave W only half a lap behind him.
In Tin Tops the first final saw Duncan finish ahead of Steve R, Paul and Doug. The second final was a bit quicker with Dave B just pipping Dave W again by about half a lap. Matt was third struggling with our recessed slot track with his NSR. Overall a win for Dave B from Dave W and Duncan. This event will not count towards the Oaklands Park championship - this will now take place on Wednesday 11th November, plenty of time to get your car up to our latest specifications.
Next week it's 1/32 BSCRA sports and some of our members will be racing brushless for the first time.

With Steve Talbot and Nigel Pedley off ill (get well soon both), 8 racers turned up this Wednesday evening for a bit of 1/24 Sports fun. This included Doug Pinkerton and James Noake from Black Country Slot Car Raceway. James will shortly be travelling to Finland to compete in the 1/24 Worlds - we wish him well.
Fastest lap qualifying was used to see who raced who and Lapmaster sorted out the finals.
In the first final David Beeching performed well to secure the win and second place overall. The ever improving Paul Stokes was second after some great scrapping with Doug and Dave Warren.
The second final saw James win from Duncan Bullock who drove quickly and consistently to second place. Third with his new car was Stephen Rhodes from Barrie Wildfat Gregory with some very quick lap times.
The overall results are as per the photo.
Our new monitor is also shown in the photos - this was donated by Steve Wall from the Wall family estate - thank you for thinking of us Steve.

First item on the agenda this Wednesday was to celebrate the 50th birthday of club member Duncan Bullock, many happy returns Duncan. After a celebratory cup of tea and a jam doughnut (thanks Duncan) we qualified for the BSCRA saloon finals using the fastest lap method.
The first final consisted of guests Dean Byatt and son Oscar from North Staffs Scalextric Racing Club as well as Doug Pinkerton from Black Country Slot Car Raceway. Oscar led from the outset for most of the race until when finishing on red lane he allowed Doug through for the win by about half a lap. Dean struggled with the car's handling and finished third.
The second final saw Dave Warren win by about a lap after a great battle from Alex Krupskaya and Robbo both from NSSRC.
The third final saw a great drive by David Beeching giving him enough laps to finish third overall. After getting well enough to return to racing Barrie Wildfat Gregory came second ahead of Steve Talbot who'd recently returned from a well deserved holiday in the east of England. Fourth was Paul Stokes who was delighted with his sixth place overall.
The fourth final saw guest James Noake take the overall win with a talented drive. He didn't have it all his own way though, Mick Metcalfe was only ever a couple of laps behind for second place. Third was birthday boy Duncan who had some problems with his car.
A big thank you for our visitors from BCSCR and NSSRC, we hope you had an enjoyable evening - you're welcome back anytime.
Since the meeting, we learned that one of our racers Nigel Pedley was taken to hospital after collapsing due to cellulitis. All at the club wish you a speedy recovery Nigel.
Next week it's the mayhem that is 1/24 sports (Hawk/Eagle motors) - it's going to be quick, it's going to be fun!

This Wednesday we saw the return of hard bodied Tiddlers and Libre racing at Oaklands. Steve Talbot was away on holiday and Barrie Wildfat Gregory still poorly (get well soon Barry) but we did have the welcome return of Nigel Pedley and wife Emma. James Noake also visited from Black Country Slot Car Raceway.
First up was Tiddlers and Lapmaster was used to randomly select who raced who. In the first final James drove his Abarth to a new class record with Dave Warren second, Paul Stokes third and Emma fourth. The second final saw David Beeching win from Stephen Rhodes, Duncan Bullock and Nigel. Overall results are as per the photo.
Next up was Libre and in the first final James drove his new Scaleauto hypercar to victory from Steve R, Dave B and Nigel. In the second final Dave W took the win from Duncan, Paul and Emma. Overall results are again shown in the photo.
Next week it's BSCRA saloon - fast and furious but well behaved good fun.
In the meantime we wish good luck to Mick Metcalfe, Duncan and Steve R who are racing this weekend at Corby.

Prepare your Tiddlers !!! Oaklands Park goes small in a BIG way tonight. We are racing our Tiddler class, cars no wider than 54mm using rubber tyres. Will the Mini that's been beating everyone for the last year be overtaken by a certain Scottish Imp, has someone secretly been building a race winning car behind closed doors?. All will be revealed tonight in what is becoming one of the most contested Hard Body classes Oaklands run. Come and join us to watch, even better we'll loan you a car, come and experience the great fun of a night at Oaklands Park 😀
Doors open at 7.30pm, racing starts at 8.15pm.
