In light of our previous post, we thought it may be helpful to share some information about scam phone calls.

Our post (see previous post) refers to number spoofing, this is where scammers change their caller ID to disguise their identity or to mimic the number of a real company.

⚠️If you get a phone call from a company asking you for personal information, end the call and contact the company directly using a known contact number or other method of communication (such as email or online chat).

Legitimate companies will not be offended if you inform them that you are ending the call because you have concerns about it being genuine.

⚠️Be aware that scammers can keep the phone line open even when you have hung up.
There are a few ways to ensure that when you call the legitimate company that you aren’t still talking with the scammer.
Use a different phone 📞
Call someone that you know first to check that the line is free 🗣️
Wait at least 5 minutes between calls 🕑

⚠️ Always be wary of phone calls, texts and emails that you were not expecting asking for information, even if they look or sound genuine.

⚠️ Never give out personal or financial information. Companies and Banks will never call you and ask for your PIN number, full passwords or one time passcodes (OTP)

Please be aware that we will NEVER ask for payment over the phone or take payment in order to make a booking. Calls will only ever be made by one of our four team members here at Perry Garage so if it isn't one of us, the call is not genuine.

If you are unsure whether a call you are receiving is from us please hang up and call us back or send us a message on here.

Looks like after 5 or more years of trying we are now going to get a proper phone line installed , at least the phone poles have been erected so it’s a start

A simple and easy check to do at home to make sure you’re legal

The 20p test is a quick and easy way to make sure your tread depth is legal. All you need to do is:

1. Place a coin into the main tread grooves of your tyre.

2. Is the outer band of the 20p coin obscured? Then your tread is above the legal limit.

3. Is the outer band of the coin visible? Then your tyres may be illegal and unsafe and need to be checked by a qualified tyre profession
