The Triplex Capri has been tucked up in bed for the rest of 2026. We haven’t had a dream season to say the least but it has had incredible moments. For her first season to get to race at Goodwood in the Gordon Spice Trophy, The Donington Historic, Brands Hatch GP and a BTCC support round. We couldn’t have asked for more, then to get a podium at Thruxton really did make 2026 one to remember. Unfortunately a bent exhaust valve picked up in qualifying at Thruxton meant that the engine will need a rebuild.

Whilst we are chasing more power to bring her up to the top step we’ve decided to park her up and get the right engine built over the winter to have a full season in 2027 and hopefully some more podiums 🤞🏁

So its 😴 for now and we’ll see you in 2027, hopefully at the 84th Members Meeting Goodwood Road & Racing 🤞🤞🤞

How mega was that !!!

A huge thank you to commentator Dave Goddard for the kind words, it really meant a lot.

We arrived at Thruxton knowing we were around 50hp down on the competition at the fastest circuit in the uk, and having only been there once before, we knew we had to be brave ! We qualified P3 before an engine misfire appeared and we discovered one cylinder had lost compression. We made some adjustments, took a gamble, and headed to the grid.

The race was incredible. We battled at the front, briefly ran P2, then a slow pit stop left us 25 seconds off the podium with just 19 minutes remaining.

But we kept pushing, taking around 3 seconds a lap out of third place before making the pass for P3 in the closing stages.

To stand on the podium with a car already 50hp down whilst carrying an engine issue, makes this result even more special. It’s the Triplex Capri’s first Group 1 podium since Gerry Marshall’s 2nd place at Silverstone in 1978.

Now it’s time for an engine refresh… and hopefully to find that missing 50hp.

What an amazing weekend !!! The Thruxton Retro was mega, on the Saturday we offered trackside support to Andy Wilson’s DAF Super Saloon driven by Matt Ellis. What a machine, unfortunately in the qualifying session the transponder was intermittent but our manual timing showed Matt on pole with a 5 second gap to 2nd place.

Sadly for the first race and on the first lap the car came in and it was an obvious issue the passenger exhaust bracket had broken off causing the exhaust to drop on the floor. We tied it up and got her back to the pits. With a welder to hand we refitted bracket and added some lock wire to both side for extra support.

Race 2 was on the Sunday and from the back of the grid Matt stormed through the field taking the win, the bubbly and the sponsored drinks.

A great effort by the team, a well deserved win for Matt and another trophy for the incredible DAF.
