Sharing on behalf of Liverpool City Council.

If someone in your team crashes on the way to a customer, the questions start with you.
Most employers have no idea that driving for work is their legal responsibility - right up until something goes wrong.

If anyone in your business drives to a job, a meeting, a delivery or a site visit - in a company vehicle or their own car - you have a legal duty to manage that risk. Around a third of road traffic collisions involve someone who was driving for work.

We're running a free breakfast briefing to help you get on top of it.

Wednesday 28 October
Holiday Inn, Liverpool city centre, with partnership with Liverpool City Council

⏰ 8am start, finished by 11.30
☕ Free to attend - refreshments provided
📋 Free resource pack to take away

Five 20-minute sessions from five specialists:
✅ Your legal responsibilities as an employer
✅ Driver impairment – drink, drugs and medication

✅ Vehicle safety

Delegates will receive a takeaway pack and a post-event download containing free tools and resources, with a copy of the presentations, to help you start immediately filling gaps that could put you, your business and its reputation at risk.

Here’s a challenge.

If your van is part of your working day, can you honestly remember the last time you checked its tyre pressures?

If the answer is “I can’t remember”, you’re not alone. Our research suggests regular tyre checks simply aren’t part of many drivers’ routines.

When your van is covering mile after mile for work, those checks shouldn’t get lost in a busy day. This Tyre Safety Month, make today the day you change that with a quick 5-minute tyre check.

Increased confidence behind the wheel, advice to tackle issues and refreshing skills. Those are some of the things drivers who sign up for a Drive Safely for Longer assessment will get.

Discounted at just £20, drivers aged over 60 get a two-hour session, with qualified driving instructors who have received additional nationally recognised road safety training.

They can use the time as they please – from improving motorway driving to approaching Clatterbridge Roundabout or going through the Mersey Tunnel.

One driver said: “I have put into practice what I have learnt on my driving session and I feel more confident with my motorway driving now.”

To book a session or for more information, email [email protected] or call 07712133719.

Throughout the month we’re supporting the fantastic work of TyreSafe encouraging everyone to ACT before they reACT.

🟢 C = Condition

Your tyres work hard every time you drive, but how often do you actually take a closer look at them?

It’s not just tread depth that matters (we’ll look at that tomorrow) The overall condition of your tyres is equally important. Damage can easily occur through everyday driving and it may not always be obvious until you look for it.

When checking your tyres, look for:

🔍 Cuts in the tyre sidewall or tread
🔍 Lumps or bulges
🔍 Cracks or tears in the rubber
🔍 Objects embedded in the tyre, such as nails or screws
🔍 Signs of uneven wear

A lump or bulge could indicate internal damage to the tyre structure and should be checked immediately. Continuing to drive on a damaged tyre increases the risk of a puncture or tyre failure, particularly at higher speeds.

The good news is that a tyre condition check only takes just a few minutes and can easily be carried out as part of your regular vehicle checks.

Remember, your tyres are the only part of your vehicle in contact with the road. Keeping them in good condition helps keep you, your passengers and other road users safe.

🛞 ACT before you reACT
🔵 A – Air Pressure
🟢 C – Condition
🟠 T – Tread Depth

Take a few minutes today to walk around your vehicle and check your tyres. What you spot now could prevent a problem later.
