Well after hearing and reading lots about the Land Rover Mild Hybrid DC converter failures today we joined the club and replaced our first one.

Massive back order issues with these. Our customer waited 2 weeks or so which we’re told is a good result right now.

Replacement involves dropping the 48v MHEV battery pack down, opening up, renew the converter and reassemble.
Online programming and updates follow, all done in house using JLRs systems. Then finally the vehicle is able to charge its 12v battery again.

2017 Land Rover Discovery visited us this week due to MOT failure, Engine Management Light on.

We found faults stored for no flow through the low pressure EGR cooler.
This system takes exhaust gases from after the diesel particulate filter and recirculates them to further reduce emissions.

With the filter removed from the cooler you can see heavy carbon deposits have completely blocked it. But why?

An expensive answer, unfortunately the DPF is leaking particles and thus making its way back into the EGR system. This means its the DPF has an internal crack. There is no clean or cheap fix here. Unfortunately a new DPF and filter was required along with a thorough clean of the EGR system.

With all issues repaired we carried out a full MOT test and issued the customer with a repaired vehicle and a test certificate.



Having troubles with DPF, EGR, Adblue etc then give us a call and get booked it.
Our 2026 diary is open for bookings now, although we have a handful of appointments available before christmas.

MK7 Golf GTD DSG transmission fault, ‘gearbox in emergency mode’ message on dash along with EML light on.

Swiftly diagnosed as mechatronic internal fault, specifically the position/pressure sensors.
Mechatronic unit removed and repaired, refitted along with a gearbox service.
Basic settings and road test carried out. No more emergency mode!

Looks like we have found our culprit.
Massive over-fuel on this injector.

VW Crafter camper in today following MOT failure due to emissions and EML on.

Tailpipe full of soot indicating excessive fuel being injected and overwhelming the DPF.

Injectors removed and tested on site.
Results to follow
