Sunday story time… 🤖
Sometimes a picture tells a story… even when it’s only a cartoon.
AI was asked to create a caricature of me based on everything it knows… and this is what it came up with.
At first, I laughed.
Then I started looking at all the little details, and I realised it wasn’t really about me… it was about what Ray Vaughan & Son Ltd stands for.
Every tool has a purpose.
Every vehicle on the ramp belongs to someone who trusts us to keep them safe.
Every cup of coffee fuels another busy day in the workshop.
Every late finish is because we wanted to get one more customer back on the road.
The caricature even picked up the running shoes.
Some people wonder what running has to do with fixing cars.
To me… everything.
The discipline to get up early.
The consistency to keep turning up.
The determination to keep improving, even when you’re tired.
They’re the same values that have kept this family business going for 47 years.
And yes… over the years I’ve heard people say:
“You’ve had it handed to you on a plate.”
If only they knew.
They didn’t see the days that rolled into nights, or the nights that rolled straight into the next working day.
They didn’t see the 14- and 15-hour days.
They didn’t see me finishing work, putting the kids to bed, then heading straight back to the workshop.
They didn’t see me grab a couple of hours’ sleep on the workshop floor or in the office before carrying on.
They didn’t see the birthdays, weekends, holidays and family time that were sacrificed to keep the business moving forward.
They didn’t see the moments where I was so exhausted I was falling asleep standing up.
They only see where we are today.
They don’t see what it took to get here.
Nothing worth having comes easy.
This garage wasn’t built on luck.
It was built on hard work, family values, long hours, and never accepting second best.
It was built by people who turned up when it was difficult, who kept going when they were tired, and who always put the customer first.
Every day we’re still trying to improve, still trying to learn, and still trying to give our customers the service they deserve.
So yes… it’s only a cartoon.
But behind every little detail is a real story.
A story of family.
A story of sacrifice.
A story of resilience.
A story that’s still being written every single day.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Ray Vaughan & Son Ltd over the last 47 years.
We never take your trust for granted, and we’ll keep working hard to earn it.
Work. Train. Race. Repeat. 💙🔧🏃
