Vanscape replaced the pop-top canvas on this Ford Transit Custom campervan with a REIMO elevating roof.

The old canvas had rotted out at the back and couldn't be repaired any other way.
The customer decided to have a bespoke custom-made canvas instead of the genuine REIMO version.

Vanscape can do anything from carrying out general vehicle servicing and repairs, supplying and fitting a pop-top or high-top roof, to completing a full van conversion, and anything else in between that a campervan might need!

Vanscape had already fitted the rear door windows to this van some time ago, and now the van returned for the side windows to be fitted.

We fitted Camper Glass windows to match the rear ones, with the driver's side opening and the passenger side fixed. This provided much more light and ventilation in the rear of the van which the owner is converting into a camper / day van.

Vanscape has replaced the canvas on a few of these Autosleeper Mezan motorhomes over the years.
Autosleeper doesn't provide any support for the them, so owners with a damaged canvas can no longer use the an, but luckily we have made our own canvas to fit these vans and can usually bring them back to life 😁

This van had both front scissor hinges snapped in half so the roof wouldn't operate properly, and the roof rubber seal was damaged, and the canvas was destroyed!

We fabricated new parts for the hinges, fitted a new rubber seal and a new canvas, and now this van is good to go for years again 👍

Vanscape replaced the old canvas on this Burstner Eliseo motorhome, with a new custom-made, one-off black one.
💥This is probably the only Burstner Eliseo in the world with a black canvas! 💥😎

Whilst we were fitting the new canvas, we also replaced the old broken solar panels and re-routed the cabling so it wasn't rubbing on the side of the canvas anymore, as this is what had caused the damage in the first place.

Vanscape fitted a Westdubs pop-top to this VW Caddy Maxi for a local lady that wanted to be able to use the van more easily for camping trips.

The new Westdubs elevating roof provides room to stand up and move about inside the van much easier without crouching and ducking - this little van is surprisingly spacious with the pop-top fitted.

The first pop-top canvas replacement we have completed in our new premises was on this lovely old VW T4 fitted with a REIMO elevating roof.

The old canvas had rotted out at the back due to the rubber seal shrinking and allowing water to sit on the canvas.

We fitted a genuine replacement, which was an upgrade from the old style canvas fitted when this van was built.

A lovely van with many years of life for adventures now the pop-top is back in good shape.

Over the past few weeks, Vanscape has moved business premises to a bigger and more suitable location in Torrington.

The move has been exhausting and disruptive, but it already feels like it was worth the effort, as the first week trading in the location has seen us very busy straightaway, which, we hope, is a good sign of things to come!

Our new premises is much larger with considerably more scope to offer more services and work on more vehicles at the same time, which should allow us to expand and easier and be able to improve our workload and turnaround times.

The new premises has various garage equipment, including multiple ramps, a tyre fitting bay and many other things, which means we can tap into other skills and experience we have as a business, and offer a more complete one-stop campervan shop experience for our customers. But, of course, we won't only work on campervans and can service normal cars too!

We are setting up a dedicated area for our CNC and woodworking activities so that our conversions can continue to grow and improve. We plan to add more services and products as we settle in and grow with our new building, so please keep an eye on our social media for more information 👍

Lots of work going on at Vanscape at the moment, which is making it a little difficult to keep regular social media posts coming 🤪
However, we thought we'd find the time to post this one up as it highlights one of the main reasons pop-top canvasses often need to be replaced.

The rubber seal that goes around the pop-top shrinks over time and leaves a gap at the back for water to get in and onto the folded canvas when the roof is shut. The water sits there and rots through the canvas, unbeknownst to the owner until they open the pop-top the next time, often in the spring.

There isn't much can be done once this has happened, except replacing the canvas, which is what Vanscape specialise in doing.
BUT, we can also replace the rubber seal on most pop-tops which, if caught early enough, can prevent this damage from happening in the first place - definitely the cheaper option 👍

This lovely Transit Custom had suffered with this problem, like so many other campers have, and so we replaced the canvas with a bespoke upgrade version and renewed the rubber, getting the van looking great and back ready for camping trips.

We've been really busy at Vanscape over the past few weeks with the summer rush!

This job was a little unusual in that we fitted Vamoose awning rails to two almost identical vans - same colour, same age, same roof racks and canopy awnings! The only differences were one van was a LWB the other a SWB and one had a spare wheel on the roof rack and the other had a windscreen sunvisor.

Great to be able to add another useful accessory to these already kitted out vans 😎
