Remember the helicopter collection/drop off??

A few months ago, this van van travelled over 300 miles to us for its conversion – followed by a rather memorable trip to the airfield to meet the owner and his helicopter!

Well… here's the finished result….

We absolutely loved this build, especially the colour scheme. Terracotta cabinetry, bamboo worktops and the slatted ceiling have come together beautifully. The innovative rail bed by Smartbeds is always a bonus too!

And yes… we know it looks pink in the photos. We promise, it's terracotta!

A little different, completely bespoke, and now finished and collected.

Something a little smaller this time… a VW Caddy!

This conversion took some careful planning, as our customer is a nurse and relies on her Caddy for work, so we worked the build around her shifts over a few weeks.

She was absolutely over the moon with the finished result — and with just how much we managed to fit into such a small space!

A quick update from the Saltline team!

Firstly, a huge thank you to all of our customers for your patience and understanding over the past few weeks.

We currently have 14 camper conversions in progress, and with some unexpected staff sickness, it’s been an exceptionally busy period for our small team.

We’re doing everything we can — including plenty of extra hours behind the scenes — to keep every conversion moving while maintaining the standard of workmanship we expect from every camper that leaves our workshop.

Unfortunately, a few enquiries, messages and calls have been missed or taken us longer than usual to respond to. We’re really sorry if you’ve been waiting to hear from us. If we have missed you, please do give us another nudge.

To everyone currently trusting us with their camper, thank you. Your patience and support genuinely mean a lot to us.

And photos like this make all the hard work worthwhile — one of our previous conversions currently making its way from the UK to Norway 🇳🇴!

Being giving a brand new van to convert for a client is always a privilege and shows they have trust and faith in our work.

This client first approached us with a vision of what he wanted. As he’s in the building trade he has a keen eye on detail and wanted a high-end finish. Working closely over the last few months meant we created, what is possibly, our favourite build to-date.

Some long hours were put in over the last 4 weeks to stick the the strict deadlines we set ourselves (and the fact the client had a ferry book for some European adventures)

Everything was completely designed, custom built and installed in-house.

We don’t post every camper we build, but some have a story that deserves to be told — and this one means a little more to us than most.

Around 20 years ago, a very good friend casually mentioned the idea of “building kitchens into vans”. At the time, campervan conversions were nowhere near the industry they are today, but that conversation sparked an interest. He later put us in touch with someone already doing it and, without really knowing it at the time, helped set us on the path that eventually became Saltline.
So, in many ways, we owe this one to him.

Despite being part of our story from the very beginning, he’d never actually had a camper of his own. Sadly, after losing his dad, he inherited his van — and it felt only right to give it a new chapter while keeping it very much in the family.

We’ve transformed it into a camper ready for family adventures, leaving out the main furniture units for now while they find their feet with life on the road — travelling around Devon and Cornwall with two young girls and a dog in tow.

There are builds we’re proud of because of how they look, and others because of what they mean.
This one is definitely the latter.

Here’s to the next chapter, plenty of family adventures, and a chance for us to give something back to the person who helped start this whole journey in the first place.

This camper runs entirely from the customer’s BLUETTI power station — no traditional leisure battery, no inverter and no electric hook-up. Just the BLUETTI paired with a solar panel to keep things simple and off-grid.

Today we had a van dropped off by a CEO’s Managing Director, and the conversation went something like this...

Customer's MD: "Could you give me a lift to where the boss is waiting?"
Me: "Of course... where to?"
Customer's MD: "The nearest airfield."
Me: “errmmmm”

Now, we've had customers arrive by taxi, car and train... but I certainly wasn't expecting one to arrive in his own helicopter. 🚁

Their brand new Transit Custom had just been dropped off with us to begin its conversion, and after travelling over 300 miles, I'd say that's a pretty memorable way to arrive/leave

After having a chat, discussing a few designs and finishes, they were off and on their way home.

We’re definitely excited to get started on this one!

It’s certainly been a busy few weeks at Saltline HQ. Between camper handovers, attending shows, and growing our team (more on that soon 👀), there’s been plenty happening behind the scenes.

This stunning VW Transporter is just one of several campers to leave our workshop recently. Every conversion is another opportunity for us to improve, refine, and raise the bar, and we feel this one really reflects the quality and attention to detail we’re striving for.

We hope its new owners enjoy every adventure ahead.
