So, you will have seen that I haven’t posted for a while , mainly due to this glorious weather which has basically meant I have done less this year than ever before. Finally today the weather was mild enough to do a job …. Until it poured with rain! However the rain only lasted for ten minutes or so and luckily I’d finished the outside of the car so only had to dry it off again and the wax that I’d already applied made that very easy. This 2024 Skoda Karoq was booked in for a gold detail and some machine polishing to deal with scratches along the nearside.

Regular visitors to my page may recall that back in May this year I visited one of my regular customer who is serial car rescuer to detail a Toyota MR2. I have detailed a number of 80s classics that he has saved. Today was unusual as this car , another red MR2 , had been purchased as a spares car for the one from May. However once my customer had the car at home he realised that it was in much better condition than he initially thought. The only option left was to return this one to the road as well ! After a few months the cars mechanical condition was superb but unfortunately the paint condition is not great and this car would benefit from a repaint. My customer is very much someone who recognises cars are only original once. So this one was booked in for a machine polish and wax to improve its appearance as the recommissioning process continues.

A chance to get another job done today. A recent purchase for an old friend is this 2005 Porsche 911. Although the car was presented quite well from the supplying dealer my customer wanted a gold detail and some machine polishing to get the red paintwork to really pop. He also asked if I could polish the headlight to improve the clarity. Luckily I had the chance to work under cover as it got both warm and humid very quickly.

Finally a break in the weather allowed me to do a job that’s been waiting for a very long time. The car was booked into have a Gold detail and lots of machine polishing to remove or soften the appearance of a lot of scratches. Starting early , just in case the weather decided to change its mind. Firstly rinsing the car down prior to snow foaming and giving the car a hand wash . I then sprayed the car with Korrosol to break down bonded contaminants and used tar and glue remover to get the paint work as clean as possible. Another rinse down and the true condition of the paintwork became clear.
Out with the machine polishers and every panel was given a polish to return the clarity and shine it had been lacking. Then onto a coat of wax before cleaning and dressing the tyres and plastic trims. Once the exterior was completed I began the deep clean of the cars interior. Mats removed and shampooed and while they dried the carpets and leather seats received their deep clean.

Those that follow my page will have noticed I haven’t posted for quite some time. To the customers who had bookings that I had to delay my apologies. I have said this before but unfortunately the extreme weather we have been experiencing means that polishes and waxes do not perform how they should and dry out really quickly when in use. This can potentially cause damage to soft paintwork.
If I can’t do a job to my standard I simply won’t do it. Without the benefit of a work unit I have to work outside so I am very weather dependent. I have tried using a gazebo but the temperature under that was a few degrees higher than outside! Once again my apologies to those waiting and I will be in touch as soon as the weather calms down a little. Stay safe ,stay hydrated.

Unfortunately I’ve had to cancel jobs booked for this week due to the weather. Polishes and waxes do not perform well in extreme temperatures and if I can’t do a job to the levels I set then I won’t start them.
The jobs I’ve had to cancel have been notified and rebooked. Please bear in mind if you’re using roadside washes or cleaning your own cars be wary of the effects of strong cleaners being allowed to dry on your car and consider cleaning one panel at a time or waiting until the evening when the panels should be much cooler.
Stay safe everyone and if you’re outdoors wear sunscreen, a hat and keep hydrated.

Todays job was a gold detail on this 15 year Old Ford Focus , with under 50,000 miles covered the car was in need of a deep clean as the owner has been unable to clean the car themselves and the normal location they use has closed. So I was asked to give this car some tlc and to ensure the removal of mould and debris that had built up whilst the car was sitting.

Today’s task was a visit to my customer who is a serial car restorer. He has rebuilt a number of cars he aspired to own or admired when he was younger. This one is a car from 1986 that I recall a couple of my friends owning “back in the day” when they were new. With a name that perfectly explained the cars purpose this car featured a 1.6 litre twin cam engine in a lightweight body with nearly 130bhp. The Toyota MR2

Today was a visit to a repeat customer who asked for the exterior of their car to be detailed , leaving them to deal with the interior. This is not a service I normally offer as I will only book one detail per day to ensure I have time to deal with any issues that might come up. However for an existing customer I was prepared to make the time to get the car up to a good standard. This 10 year old car has covered just over 40,000 miles but my customer tells me it has never been polished , just regularly washed. So a full external deep clean and decontamination followed by a polish and then a wax by hand. Tyres and trim dressed , glass cleaned and job done.
