When the owner of this long-distance rally regular 4.5-litre Bentley shared his competition calendar, we were full of admiration, and keen to support his adventures.

Kingsbury Racing Shop has very recently taken over the care and maintenance of this hardworking hero, and our first task was to rebuild the engine in a very tight timescale, after it had holed a piston. We also undertook a programme of handling and chassis improvements ahead of its next gruelling trial, the Nordic Challenge.

While many vintage and veteran car owners are content to admire their precious vehicles, some others are happiest when pushing themselves, and their cars, to the limit. Kingsbury Racing Shop ensures your historic vehicle is able to do the latter, even if you only ever choose to do the former.

This Bentley Racing Special enjoyed a successful outing competing at the recent Donington Historic Festival. Its owner was pleased with the increased power Kingsbury found. Now it is back at our racing shop for a new final drive to exploit the power increase and overall inspection before its next event.

This delightful 1924 Salmson Type-D recently entered the Kingsbury Racing Shop from of a small private collection, receiving improvements to its brakes, critical safety items, cosmetic touch-ups, and other refinements to ensure it remains an enjoyable road car in the 21st century, while retaining the unique character of this 100-year-old, four-cylinder, 1300cc tourer.

Believed to be the first production car model to be fitted with a DOHC engine, the current owner tracked this French rarity down in 2022, adding it to his collection. It is the actual car his grandfather owned in the 1960s.

Kingsbury is committed to keeping historic vehicles of all marques on the road, and performing to their maximum.

This 1930 Blower Bentley is one of the most original cars of its type. Nicknamed The Green Hornet, it is back at Kingsbury Racing for us to return it to as close to period condition as possible. Fortunately, we have all the factory bodywork in storage from when we restored it for the owner some years ago. Together, we had planned for this to take place at a future date, one that has now arrived.

We are having an increasing number of conversations about sympathetically reversing concours restorations and are ideally resourced to do so. Please get in touch if you wish to discover if this is the correct course of action for your car, whatever its marque.

Keep following Kingsbury Racing’s feeds for periodic updates on The Green Hornet’s progress.

This 1926 Bentley has been a central winter project in the workshop, undergoing a full, but sympathetic mechanical restoration and a 3 to 4 1/2 Litre engine upgrade at our workshops.

With the engine now fitted, the car recently underwent a series of road tests, final systems integration checks and full preparation ahead of being collected by its owner. We leave no stone unturned.

Although a keen racer, the owner plans to enjoy the car on the road, swapping flying goggles for a suitably smart hat. We wish him many happy miles.

Bentley YF7602 back in the workshop following a successful run on the recent Flying Scotsman Rally.

Now undergoing post-event checks and ongoing maintenance ahead of a busy summer of regular use with its owner, Tomas – exactly the sort of life these cars were built for.

The car carries a growing collection of rally plaques documenting events including the Flying Scotsman and Peking to Paris, alongside an invitation-only Benjafield Racing Club badge awarded following Tomas’ endurance rally exploits. Next on the horizon is the Gaucho Rally.

The plaques are fitted to a wooden toolbox inspired by early Bentley competition cars, alongside a dash-mounted cast St Christopher badge reserved for our major builds and restorations. Both the toolbox and St Christopher were made in-house at Kingsbury.

Built for sustained rally use, the car also runs a bespoke cleanable RamAir filter system developed specifically for long-distance endurance events and extreme conditions.

Enjoyed often and carefully maintained, this car is continually evolving through use.
