Ahead of the sale, the car will be on display at Megaphonics on 1st and 2nd of August at Boxengasse, giving visitors the chance to see it up close before bidding begins.

The 550 Spyder is one of Porsche’s most famous racing cars, built between 1953 and 1956.

It weighed only around 550 kg, was powered by the legendary 1.5-litre Type 547 “Fuhrmann” four-cam flat-four producing around 110 hp, and achieved enormous success in international sports car racing.

It is also famously associated with actor James Dean, who owned a 550 Spyder nicknamed Little Bastard.
