Katie’s mk1 was in need of some welding on the rear n/s sill area. This had to be a quick repair as the car was going for an MOT not long after it was booked.

It had inner and outer sill repair panels with some custom work on the inner structure. Finished with primer, paint and laquer to match the existing paintwork. We also used some Bilt Hamber Dynax-S50 (anti corrosion wax) on the inside of the sill, to further protect the surrounding area.

It was in on Monday and out on Friday! 💨

Shelsley Walsh Saturday the 8th of August.

It was nice to be back in the dedicated hill climb Mx5 this week!
I had to pull another late night till Saturday morning, (2AM) to fit the new headgasket along with changing all the brake discs, pads and rear callipers.

I took first place in my class and knocked a second and half off of my PB (34.19)
There’s still definitely more to come from this car in its current state, I think I can brake later and enter the corners smoother, the back has a tendency to kick out as you will see 🤣

It was also a bonus to have the live stream running over the weekend. It got some good angles of the shiny new paint!

James’ BRG MK1

This was in for a cam belt, water pump and service, alongside a drivers side rear lower arch repair.

The car then got a full exterior respray.

It was in need of some love and attention as it hadn’t been serviced for a while and half of the car was suffering from lacquer peel. The engine is running lovely now, the rear lower arch has been repaired and treated inside and along the sill. It’s had a full exterior respray in 2K BRG to bring it back. A new tan roof and a polish will be applied next week and she will be back off to James.

So I was scheduled to race at Loton Park on the 1st&2nd of August, however the hill climb mx5 was still off the road after blowing the head gasket and destroying the head (3 weeks prior to the race)
After the parts still hadn’t arrived, we made a last ditch decision to turn the drift-spec mx5 into a makeshift hill climb car for the weekend.
We worked from 7pm till 3am Saturday morning, changing wheels, tyres, front and rear bumpers, front wings, filling holes in the rear arches, changing the diff, fitting a half cage and different bucket seats with harnesses.
It was a mission. With only 2 hours sleep we managed to get to loton on Saturday morning. The car ran okay on the Saturday. It was a hard drive with the alignment still being set up for drifting, as you can imagine.
Then on the Sunday, I was all set for some better times now familiar with the track layout.
Then my gearbox decided to blow up at the end of the first run on Sunday morning. Luckily Jon (who drives the BMW Z4) let me co drive his car so I wouldn’t lose points in the championship.
A massive thanks to you, and the lads who helped me get the car ready.

A weekend to remember and forget all at the same time i think. 👍

Bertie’s Restoration

Came into the workshop with some very suspect welding and patches. We were genuinely quite shocked that the previous welder had tried to hide all this and said it had been done properly to the owner.

Along with all the welding shown above
Bertie chose our gold underbody package.
More detail shown on website.

The gold underbody package includes:

•Removing of all subframes and arms, and then powder coating them in your desired colour.

•Your choice of all new bushings.

•New inner and outer track rods, upper and lower ball joints, drop links and camber bolts.

•All underseal to be removed and underbody treated with a rust converter, then followed by Buzzweld 2K epoxy primer.

•Redo all the seam sealer, and add a fresh coat of Dinitrol 4941 underbody wax.

The car is now off for a full respray, then coming back to us to finish off the last few things.

We Finally got the Paint all finished on graces car.
Looking forward to putting the engine back in and seeing it drive, it’s been a long time coming. 🚗 💨

My second event was at Blyton park. First sprint of the year. first time sleeping in the van and towing the car. Was an awesome track,very fast in places! Glad there were run offs on the corners as you’ll see🤣 nice to get another win 🏆
