You can legally swap your DVSA driving test date with another learner by calling the DVSA at 0300 200 1122.
Both learners need to provide their test details and agree to the swap. It is free to do so, but from 31 March 2026, you are limited to two changes or swaps per booking.
How to Swap a Test
Find a Partner:
Find another learner, often via social media forums or your driving instructor if you have one.
Verify Details:
Ensure both tests are of the same type (e.g., weekday for weekday) and that your theory test certificate remains valid for the new date.
Call DVSA Together: One or both parties call 0300 200 1122 to facilitate the transfer with the following details:
Full name and address
Driving licence number
Booking reference number
Test center name, date, and time

The service is free; do not pay middlemen.
Limits:
You can only change/swap your test a limited number of times, reducing to two times per booking from 31 March 2026.
Restrictions: As of 12 May 2026, location limitations will be applied to where you can move your test.Instructor Access: From 12 May 2026, only learners (not instructors) will be able to manage their own car driving test bookings.
