Well… she did it ❤️🌙
Saturday night into Sunday morning, Sam completed the MoonWalk, 26.2 miles through the night for breast cancer.
I honestly can’t put into words how proud I am of her.
This was always personal. Sam lost her mum, Anita, to breast cancer in 2010, and there isn’t a day she isn’t missed. Sam did this walk for her mum, and for everyone affected by this horrible disease.
What a lot of people might not know is that Sam really didn’t think she’d be able to do it. She has rheumatoid arthritis, so 26.2 miles overnight was a massive thing to take on.
But over the last year she’s lost 6 stone, worked so hard, and got herself to that start line.
And then she got herself to the finish line the only way Sam could… with her headphones on, dancing from marker to marker, stopping to dance with the marshals, and using the music to drag herself forward when her body was telling her to stop.
She kept telling herself she was feeling strong, even when she was in a world of pain.
And then, to top it off, her sister Lindsay and brother-in-law Dave rocked up as a surprise to support her, which completely blew her away.
That’s Sam all over. Stubborn, stroppy, determined, probably moaning a bit… but still dancing 😂
I’m so proud of you, Sam. For the walk, for the last year, and for the person you are.
Your mum would be bursting with pride ❤️
