With the current heatwave, we know it can be tempting to cool off by jumping into the water. However, recent news has highlighted the tragic loss of 19 young lives after entering open water. As a marina, we see first-hand how unpredictable waterways can be, even on calm, sunny days.
Please remember:
🚫 Do not jump or dive into marina waters
💧 Cold water shock can affect anyone, even strong swimmers
⚠️ Hidden risks such as boat traffic, underwater structures, ropes, and debris can cause serious injury
🌊 Water can be deeper, colder, and more hazardous than it appears
🧗♀️ Marina edges and pontoons are not designed for easy exit from the water
Help keep yourself and others safe:
✅ Keep an eye on children at all times
✅ In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard or Fire Service, do not enter the water yourself
We want everyone to enjoy the sunshine safely. Please take care around the water and help us spread this important message 💙
