It’s Tyre Safety Month, and we’re supporting TyreSafe.org to help remind drivers that being confident behind the wheel isn’t the same as being prepared for an emergency.

New TyreSafe research highlights a worrying gap between driver confidence and real-world readiness:

🔹 83% believe they’re in full control of their stopping distance.
🔹 But only 6% correctly identify stopping distance in wet conditions at motorway speeds.
🔹 94% underestimate the risk around stopping distances.
🔹 38% have experienced a near-miss in the last 12 months.
🔹 Yet only 11% checked their tyres afterwards.

The message is simple: confidence isn’t a safety strategy. Preparation is.

Your tyres are the only part of your car in contact with the road, so make sure they’re ready for whatever the road throws your way.

Check your tyre pressure, tread depth and condition regularly — and if you’re unsure, ask our team for advice.
