Some relief for Classic Car Owners in the UK.
The anxiety over RFL and MoT Exemption has been relieved (at least for the coming year).
Majority of Vehicles that can be proven to be over 40 yrs old are still Exempt from VED and MoT. The MoT exemption is a little hollow though as many insurers still exclude or limit cover on vehicles that don’t have a Valid MoT and as a collector, dealer and repairer alike, I would always insist on a Vehicle having a Valid MoT if it were to change hands (At the very least!).
Fair to say most avid collectors also prefer to make sure their DiY efforts are up to scratch and the car they potter around in is safe for the rest of the road users and pedestrians, not to mention the occupants.
