A lovely walk 🥾🥾

Situated on the rugged South Ayrshire coast of Scotland, Turnberry Lighthouse was built in 1873 by engineers David and Thomas Stevenson.

Turnberry Lighthouse stands 24 meters high with a 76-step staircase, it emits a flashing white light every 15 seconds and is visible up to 24 nautical miles to warn mariners away from Bristo Rock. It stands directly on the foundations of Turnberry Castle, the ancient stronghold where King Robert the Bruce was born in 1274.

The station was fully automated in 1986 and converted to solar power in 2013. Today the site operates as a luxury golf halfway house.

People can easily walk to Turnberry Lighthouse via the scenic, dedicated access path that cuts directly through the golf course, provided they stick to the designated paths and remain mindful of active golfers. It is also on the Ayrshire Coastal Path route between Maidens and Girvan.
