This is "Rose" the 1969 Volkswagen Type 2 Early Bay Window Camper. She is a beautifully sorted example that perfectly balances classic Volkswagen character with modern usability. Over the past three years, it has undergone extensive mechanical restoration with a clear goal: to retain the original look and feel while transforming the driving experience into something far more capable and enjoyable in today’s traffic.

Rose has been fitted with a Subaru EJ201 Forester engine conversion using components from Fellows Speedshop, including adapter plate, flywheel and refurbished heads, paired with a Freeway Flyer gearbox. Combined with renewed bushes and gear linkage, this setup delivers a van that starts reliably, cruises comfortably at modern speeds and feels significantly more refined than a standard example.

We have this wonderful Early Bay in for sale with us. We could talk about some of its delightful cream upholstery with lemon piping and raffia mats, we could talk about the Empi gearshifter, we could even talk about how it has a fully equipped camper setup (including fridge, sink, cooker and storage space)....👀

A massive thank you to Dan Dixon for allowing use of his Samba for a local wedding! A fantastic show of how much these wonderful busses can add to an already special day and we know the newlyweds had an absolute blast🎊 Dans ‘66 LHD Split Screen Samba is available to view in our showroom and available for purchase at £45,000 🤩 It also has camper facilities to be a holiday camper that could earn you some extra money on the side for proms/weddings/events. What a great all rounder!
