A in for a charging issue. The vehicle would accept the AC wall charger but wouldn't handshake with the car.

This problem has gone on for a long time, despite being at the main dealers for extended amounts of time and money thrown at it. (Receipts for nearly £3000) To be left with the same no charging issue.

So it came to the right place! We removed the hybrid traction battery and separated it. Split the battery bulkhead contactor and removed the battery disconnect module and BECM.

There's a little pin (maybe two) that has got real hot at some point and altered the resistance to a level where the onboard safety systems are not happy. We sourced a new BDM and Contactor unit, rebuilt and refitted and sealed the casing, and she's fixed!!!

It's evolved over time but this year we spent a fair bit of time sorting the garage out to make life easier in the winter months and repairs in general.

New bits were added over time, including a bathroom downstairs in the back of the garage behind the partition, and the latest, was the flooring.

Flooring quality is amazing!

Recent on going job on this battery.

Faults on the dash indicating the car was no longer happy with the hybrid battery. Upon diagnosing the car with Dr. Prius we can see the hybrid system was unhappy with blocks 6 and 7 of the hybrid battery itself.

Battery was removed and stripped. Voltages, internal resistances and CCA were all measured and noted.

5 new cells are required.

Once new cells are fitted to the pack, we will do a 48 hour balance on the new unit and refit.

Sorted.

Alot of people have been asking lately, where are my posts?! Are you still doing this job? Yes, I am!

To be fair I got to a point where I just no longer had time to take pictures of every job I were doing at the time, and slowly I uploaded less and less and just needed a break from doing the socials.

I will try and get back on track with it. I kinda want to do a YouTube channel, like fellow friends such as Kerbside Mobile Mechanic and his YouTube channel, but time is not always on my side.

Over the last few months or so I have totally revamped the garage into a much better workshop. So I've also being doing more in there. Weirdly been doing a hell of alot of wheel bearings, more in the last four months than in my life 🙃 2024 is the wheel bearing year 😂

I'm still mobile and workshop based too, bigger jobs come here, clutches, etc (if still driveable of course). If not we can tow them.

I've also invested quite heavily in new tooling and ideas over the last few months. We've had some difficult jobs, some confusing jobs and seen some really weird issues and some big cowboy bodges, but we've got to the bottom of them all.

I will try and upload more content on the regular!

Yet another old school blue . This time for a service and inspection along with a new timing belt kit and a look at that auto box to see why she doesn't want to change gear nicely.

Auto box oil was very low, we found a leak at the oil cooler pipe to the radiator. Sadly the part has ceased production so we're on our own! A local hydraulics company will make us a new pipe.

For the meantime we topped off the auto box and now she changes gear amazingly!

Sorted.
