If your brakes start grinding PLEASE! Don’t continue to drive it for another few weeks, this L200 came with no brake pedal whatsoever!

The drivers side brake pad had worn down so much it had fired out of the caliper carrier and was braking on the brake caliper itself

We’ve had an Audi A4 in for what should have been a fairly straight forward upper arm replacement on the front suspension, after stripping it down we noticed one side of the mounting point had cracked and was unsafe to reassemble
A couple of days and a new hub carrier later she was back on the road

Mondays job was a rear subframe on a BMW 320 estate, it had failed it’s MOT on a corroded rear subframe and a couple of suspension arms
The customer supplied his own used subframe from quarry motors
While stripping the vehicle we found both rear coil springs had broken, once the subframe was down we swapped the rear diff and all the suspension arms over, the refitted the new subframe

The car now has a clean MOT and is awaiting 4 wheel alignment

Anyone leaving their car like this will be charged for recovery, turning up to a busy garage ready for the day and dealing with a car with no clutch (that’s not booked in) dropped smack outside the doors is beyond a joke

Another manic week at Portland Street Garage over and done with and we’re on the countdown to our holidays on the 2nd of August
I’ve actually managed to remember to take some photos of the jobs this week so thought I’d update everyone rather than you all just assuming we’re always on holiday 😂😂

Genuine clutch and flywheel supplied and fitted to a Dacia Logan for one of our taxi customers after a breakdown, you can see one side of the clutch friction material had welded itself to the flywheel

Timing belt and water pump on an Audi Q5, the customer had noticed it using loads of coolant but looking at the state of the belt it had been due a change for quite a while

New propshaft centre bearing and donuts supplied and fitted to sort a horrible vibration and wobble on a Mercedes C-Class when going over 50MPH
