🌿🚗 Don’t Ignore Your Cabin (Pollen) Filter – Especially During Hay Fever Season! 🤧

If you suffer from hay fever, your car should be a place of relief—not another source of sneezing fits. That’s where your cabin filter (also known as a pollen filter) comes in.

🔧 What does it do?
Your cabin filter cleans the air that enters your car through the heating and air conditioning system. It traps:
Pollen 🌼
Dust 🧹
Pollution 🚫

Other airborne particles
Over time, this filter gets clogged—especially during spring and summer when pollen levels are high.

⚠️ Signs your cabin filter needs changing:
- Reduced airflow from vents
- Musty or unpleasant smells
- Increased sneezing or allergy symptoms while driving
- Windows fogging up more easily

🌼 Why it matters for hay fever sufferers:
A dirty or blocked pollen filter can actually circulate allergens inside your car, making symptoms worse. Replacing it helps keep the air inside your vehicle cleaner and easier to breathe.

🛠️ When should you change it?
Most manufacturers recommend every 12,000–15,000 miles or once a year—but if you struggle with hay fever, consider changing it more frequently during peak seasons.

💡 Pro tip:
Pair a fresh cabin filter with occasional use of your car’s air recirculation mode to reduce the amount of pollen entering from outside.
Breathe easy, drive happy—and don’t let hay fever take over your journey! 🚘💨

⚡Wipers Not Working⚡

Vehicle came in with front wipers not working at all. No movement and no motor noise, so fault finding was carried out before replacing any parts.

🔎 Process: Manufacturer wiring diagrams and technical information were checked first to understand the circuit layout. Control, ground and then power supply at the wiper motor was checked. No power present, so the wiring had to be broken down and traced using the diagram.

A damaged and corroded wire was found in the wiring loom, causing loss of power to the wiper motor.

🛠 Repair: Wiring was repaired correctly, protected, and secured to ensure a reliable repair. System retested and wipers working perfectly again.

👨‍🔧 Master Tech Tip: Always use correct wiring diagrams and manufacturer information when fault finding. Correct testing saves time and avoids unnecessary parts replacement.

It’s hard enough working on vehicles these days with the quality of some aftermarket parts trending in a race to the bottom. But lately we’re seeing more and more vehicles come in from other shops where the “parts cannon” has been fully unloaded using eBay and Amazon components.

Because those parts are so cheap, it seems like some places are skipping proper diagnosis and just replacing everything in sight. The problem is, many of those parts are even lower quality than the standard aftermarket options we get from our local suppliers. Instead of fixing the original issue, it often creates multiple new ones.

We’re getting to the point where, when a customer calls and tells us they’ve already replaced half the car with bargain online parts, we’re hesitant to even take it on. In many cases, the only real solution is putting quality OEM parts back on and starting over with proper diagnostics. Unfortunately, not everyone wants to go that route.

It’s frustrating for the customer and for us. We want to fix vehicles correctly the first time, not untangle a web of questionable parts and guesswork.

For the other shop owners and techs out there, how are you handling this? Are you asking up front what parts have already been installed? We’re seriously considering making that part of every intake conversation.

As I often say, "it's hitting the stupid level!"

My oh my - AI being unmanaged by the human.

We saw this recently AI generated image of some 'training' material.

AI slop is exactly what it sounds like. Production without quality.

AI relies on the human having some knowledge, to point out to it where it's gone or got it wrong.

Here we have artificial intelligence married to organic ignorance.

Left un-managed, AI makes as much sense as your granny after a 1/2 bottle of Sherry at Christmas.

Be safe.

Trust the trustworthy.
