Fab looking 2007 Skoda Fabia VRS TDi with crushed front jacking points and severe rust damage in both outer and inner sills.

This lovely small hot hatch with almost 260k on its clock deserved some well needed attention…
Customer approached me with request to sort out the inner sills as they failed annual MOT test on “few holes”. After proper strip down and some cutting it became very quickly obvious its not only few small holes.
Both front jacking points were rusted and crushed in, outer sill (replaced 4 years ago) started to show rust damage at the bottom part near the lip.
Sills and parts of the floors needed all replacing and rebuilt, 2mm sheet metal been used to recreate the jacking points and base of the bottom lip.
1.2 mm then used for inner sills and parts of the floors and finaly zinc coated 1mm to fix up the outer sills.

Vehicle needed few other areas addressed and required new D/S wing.

One of the long overdue jobs ticked off the jobs list today. An easy access ramp ♿️ fabricated and welded at the entrance to Unit 1 on our yard in Ballynure.

I had few quite low sports cars in my workshop recently for some welding work and the step a in to the garage started to be a bit of pain, always was but when you work on many Land Rovers and 4x4s you tend to overlook these things.
Using planks of wood to get 3000GT or Fiesta ST just to get the car inside the garage isnt ideal especially when customers looking. Doesn’t look very professional tbh.
I planned to do this for quite some time and I am glad is finally done.

This will make ny life soo much easier.

My son Martin helped out today lifting heavy 6mm checkered plates and holding them on the position while auld man had to do a yoga. 🧘💪

Going to be tested for couple of weeks and the probably painted green to match the garage. 🙂

Hi folks, a good friend of mine is in a bit of a pickle, and I'm trying to help him.
We are after a 5 Speed GM automatic gearbox for a 2004 Range Rover L322 TD6 (BMW M57 engine)
Preferably the lowest mileage as possible, or already one which was rebuilt (I know it's like chasing a unicorn 🦄)
Any pointers or contacts would be highly appreciated.

Another day another Landy fixed.

Relatively easy job this one…
2009 Puma in for a new in-tank fuel sender. The Land Rover had been stored for quite some time due to the owner's health issues, and when it was brought back to active duty, the fuel gauge was reading empty even though the fuel tank was full.

Fuses and relays checked, fault code reader indicated to sender unit.
After a quick conversation with Gerry who own this lovely “jeep” we agreed to cut inspection hole in to the floor for easy access for any other future jobs.

Seriously why Land Rover never thought about this is beyond my understanding. Many other models had them. 🤔

Wish every job was so simple. 😃

A 2004 Land Rover Discovery2 rolled into the shop with the fuel tank halfway hanging out of the chassis.
Originaly booked in only for fuel tank crossmember replacement, but after proper strip and clean down rear legs of the chassis need well needed attention and some new steel as well.

2mm plate was used to beef up the chassis legs, new bump stop bracket been fabricated, crossmember supplied by customer sloted in to the place like a glow. 👌

All treated with brunox epoxy primer, painted black and treated with Alphalan. Finaly new HD tank guard and tow bar fitted.

Another Landy saved. 💪

2003 VW Golf GT Tdi in the shop for new sills, wings and some tlc…

This vehicle belongs to my long years friend Paul and I have to say for its age and mileage (240k) its in better shape than many younger vehicles I keep seeing in my garage on regular basis.
Inner sills were almost in perfect condition, so the floor panels and inner wings. Spot of surface rust here and there but nothing serious.

New galvanised VW Heritage sill panels were welded on and primed, all surface rust wire brushed, treated with Brunox and Alphalan and finaly new front wings fitted.

Vehicle then fully reassembled, test drive carried out and then handed over to happy customer.

Finally after long three months this Land Rover Defender 90 300Tdi restoration nearing its end.

This extensive re-build started in early May, we split the body and chassis, build the rolling chassis on brand new HD galvanised chassis, fitted new suspension, fixed rear axle, fitted new clutch kit, new turbo with radiator and many more shiny parts.
Then for customers request a brand new galvanised and painted bulkhead was fitted, all gaskets been replaced and new floor panels fitted.

Many weekend hours spent on this build and she started on first click of the key. 😍

Hard to beat that. 🙂

Test drive carried out today, all fluids double checked and topped up and finally washed ahead of its MOT appointment.

I am not a Defender guy but this one drives rather nicely for its age. 👌
