A very lucky customer back on the road this week! 🍀

This Vauxhall Corsa came into us with a suspected timing chain issue and once we stripped it down we found that one of the chain guides had failed and smashed itself into hundreds of little pieces!

The engines timing was out as a result and about 90% of the broken guide had made its way down into the sump, so this was definitely one job that needed sorting asap before it turned into a much bigger and more expensive repair.

We caught this just in time and before catastrophic engine failure so It’s a good reminder that Regular servicing, the correct oil and paying attention to any rattles, noises or warning signs can make all the difference. This Corsa had only covered 60,000 miles! 😳

New timing chain kit fitted, sump removed and cleaned of debris and another engine saved from a potentially very costly repair. 🔧💪

I genuinely think this is the most worn clutch we've ever replaced!

When we stripped it down, there was literally no friction material left on the clutch plate... none. Just metal. At this point it wasn't really a clutch anymore, it was just two bits of steel having an argument! 😂

We fit a new 3 piece clutch kit and got the customer back on the road in no time! If your clutch is slipping, juddering, or biting right at the top, don't wait until it ends up looking like this.

Safe to say the new clutch feels just a little bit better! This job was back healed to us from another local garage as they were too busy and the customer desperately needed the car. So just a quick thank you to Mick and Andy as We appreciate the support 👌🚗🔧

Sometimes, replacing the whole part just isn't necessary. This customer had been quoted over £400 for a section of exhaust all because the flexi had failed.

Instead of replacing everything, we fitted a new flexi section and got the exhaust back to as-new condition for less than a quarter of what they were previously quoted, saving them hundreds of pounds in the process. 💰🔧

At Duttons Motor Services, we believe in repairing what can be repaired, not replacing parts for the sake of it. It keeps costs down for our customers and gets the job done properly.

Sorry we've been quiet on here lately... we've been mega busy in the workshop! 🔧🚗

We've barely had time to stop for a brew, never mind take photos and post updates! ☕😅

Here's one we've been getting stuck into – a 1.6 Renault Tragic….i mean trafic (those who know... know! 😂). The engine has had to be completely removed out of the vehicle so we can carry out the necessary repairs properly. Not a small job by any means, but it's all part of making sure the job's done right.

We'll try and keep the updates coming as things calm down a little, but for now it's full steam ahead getting our customers back on the road.

🚐 Another one back on the road! 🔧

This customer's van came to us with a flashing oil warning light and a tapping noise coming from the engine. After investigating, we found the cause – the oil pick-up pipe in the sump was completely blocked with fragments of the oil pump belt, restricting the oil flow and causing dangerously low oil pressure.

We stripped everything down, removed the blockage and made sure the engine had proper oil pressure again before sending it back out. We Booked the van back in for a new timing belt, water pump and a replacement oil pump belt.

A flashing oil light is never something to ignore. Turning the engine off straight away and getting it checked can be the difference between a repair and a complete engine replacement.

Another happy customer! 🔧🚗

We had this lovely Audi Q2 in today for its service and MOT. The owner mentioned it had received a full service at the main dealers less than 12 months ago.

However, when carrying out today's service, we found the pollen filter was in a shocking state to say it was less than a year old. It clearly hadn't been replaced as part of that previous service.

It's a good reminder that not all services are carried out to the same standard. Even at the dealerships. We even took 2 minutes to give the engine covers a quick clean which makes a world of difference aesthetically under the bonnet.

We always replace all the required service items and carry out every job thoroughly, so you know exactly what your vehicle is getting.

Another one sorted today! 👨‍🔧

This customer came in with loose, faulty reverse sensors, plus the heated rear screen and rear wiper motor had both stopped working.

We fixed the reverse sensors and traced the other fault to some broken wires in the tailgate loom between the body and the boot. We Repaired the damaged wiring, tested everything, and now the parking sensors, heated rear screen, and rear wiper motor are all working as they should.

Now, can we have a quick word with MG...? Who thought making every wire in the loom white was a good idea? 😂

Another happy customer back on the road! 🔧🚗

Today we replaced a timing belt and water pump. This is one of the most important services you can have carried out, as a worn timing belt can fail without warning and cause severe engine damage.

We always recommend replacing the water pump at the same time if it's driven by the timing belt as it is on many vehicles. Doing both together helps save on future labour costs and gives you added peace of mind.
