Murdo MacRitchie is a 3rd Year Apprentice working at Donald Campbell Motors. Read on to learn about Murdo's journey so far 💭

"I left school at the end of 4th year. I had a summer job at Iain Ross’s garage. A vacancy came up at Donald Campbell motors which I applied for and started on a 3 month trial with them. I completed one year in the workplace before I went to college and felt this hands on practical experience really helped me with my learning and understanding at college".

"Now that I am in my 3rd year, I am working more independently. I feel I work more efficiently as my experience grows. I get great job satisfaction from diagnostics work and problem solving".

"If you are undertaking a mechanic apprenticeship, my top piece of advice to you would be to keep on top of the job cards"!

✨What do you enjoy about working in the garage?

"I like the problem solving side of things - finding faults and fixing them".

✨What was your career route into the garage?

"I completed 6th year in school and went to university to study engineering. When I saw an apprenticeship opportunity at Donald Campbell Motors I decided to apply. I started a 3-month trial in October 2023 and started college in September this year".

✨Would you recommend a mechanic apprenticeship to others?

"Yes, definitely! I would recommend the apprenticeship route to anyone because getting paid whilst you learn a trade is great".

COVID-19 UPDATE

We’re thankful to be allowed to remain open in Tier 4 although we will be operating under the following tighter measures in order to keep staff and customers safe.
- We will be operating behind closed doors. For all pre booked appointments, please post your keys through the letterbox. As soon as your car is ready for collection, we will call you.
- Our showroom will be temporarily closed but any vehicle enquiries will be done remotely. Please either call or email for more information.
