Today’s job at BAS Cherished Vehicle Repairs 🔧
This low-mileage Range Rover Sport (just 54,000 miles) came in for some preventative maintenance and a few repairs.
✅ Timing belt (due on age, not mileage)
✅ Minor service
✅ Rear window repair
Thanks to Jake at JJLR Services , our local Jaguar Land Rover specialist, who tipped us off about a common issue with the original camshaft pulleys, and even managed to supply us a pair at short notice. We fitted the latest revised, stronger pulleys while carrying out the timing belt replacement—saving the customer potential problems down the line.
We also recommend replacing the water pump whenever the timing belt is done, regardless of mileage. This vehicle proved exactly why. Despite only 54k miles, the water pump sleeve had almost completely worked its way out and was jammed, restricting coolant flow and likely leading to overheating.
Work completed:
✔️ Timing belt kit with tensioner, idler pulleys, new bolts & revised camshaft pulleys
✔️ OEM water pump & fresh coolant
✔️ New auxiliary belt
✔️ Minor service
✔️ New rear window regulator after diagnosing a snapped cable
Another JLR back on the road with a little less to worry about—and another happy customer! 👌
