I hope you've unwrapped some COOL racecar parts, ate drank, and been merry.

I'm excited to get this shifter fitted in the new year, with the 1st and 2nd lockouts. It should help prevent any calamities in the shifting department!

Yesterday marked the end of an era, as I made a 400 mile round trip do drop the A3 off to its new home.

Clutch - you're done.

2 years ago I took an L in the finals when my clutch gave out in spectacular fashion, slipped the whole track and cost us any hopes of a season win. (My fault for not having it rebuilt when i should have). C'est la vie.

So the car has sat in the corner ever since, and well today I finally got round to splitting the engine and box to assess the damage...
Its in bad shape.

I'll send it off to assess the damage and see if anything can be saved, but I fear it might be a little far gone.

Checkout the colour on the back of the flywheel! That sucker was glowing!

Last month I got super lucky on the European FWD raffle and won myself an Ecumaster EMU Black standalone!

So over the next few months I'll be getting more familiar with the software, get a base file sorted to work with the correct triggers, DBW throttle body, sensors etc and modify the harness to plug directly into the EMU!

I'm aiming integrate the ecu into the car as fully as possible to make it as factory-like as possible, which should be pretty stright forward as there are already pre-defined CAN templates to work with the Audi instrument cluster.

Which wasn't so much the case with the previous ECU setup. Although the MS3x was definitely a great ECU, the lack of DBW support and CAN integration would have made the build less refined than were aiming for on this one.

And naturally a VE based standlone is immeasurably better for boost than the stock ME7! So this win really sets us off on the right foot 😁

If you want to go fast (more than once) you need to be able to stop 😁

One of many problems with the 8P A3 as a drag racing platform is all the best flavours of bias ply slicks are 15 or 13" and the stock brakes are nearly as big as the wheel!

So the first of many modifications is a set of Wilwood Disc Brakes brakes courtesy of an STMtuned.com brake kit

Topped off with a beautiful full set of 32 Racing Wheels

Took a bit of work to get them fitted because of the very tight gap (or lack of) between the caliper and the wheel. But nothing a kiss with a grinder couldn't fix 🤪

Morning folks! Things have been quiet on here lately while I've been involved with the Tailord Turbo V5 UP build and helping him track side with crew duties.

In the background I have been slowly retiring the Goose mk1, with the ECU, wiring harness, and switch plate all being transferred directly to the UP.

Now that that's working somewhat reliably, it has freed up a slot in the workshop so that my new project get some love.

I purchased this car cheap back in October 21 with some electrical faults causing battery drain. The intention bring to swap my race setup into it, eventually making a streetable drag car.

So now, the build can begin. I'll be taking my time with this one, taking all the things I've learnt from the last build and several years of racing to make this my dream setup. I've got pretty big dreams with this one, but the main goal is a 10 second street car with the ability to run 9s. I hope you'll join me for the ride 😁

but lost all drive in 2nd then very limited acceleration in 3rd through 5th (bouncing off the Redline the whole way) so I think i've killed the clutch 😌

That's us out of the running for VWPRO championship win, with James Hodson keeping his points lead (Congratulations!) but at least we do secure 2nd place 🏆

Been a wild season! let's see what changes winter brings 😁✌

We've successfully got through round 1, and was waiting on the call to for round 2 then unfortunately the heavens opened 😕😪 we'll be sitting pretty to see if we can get back out 🤞🏻
