Another busy week @ Checkpoint! It’s been non stop as usual!
The workshop is always busy but lots of challenging jobs in which were successfully completed by the team as per!
I haven’t had much time to work on the new unit but is is progressing well 😊
A big shout out to all our loyal customers and every member of staff!
And finally, I have been meaning to say this for a while, apologies if i’ve walked or driven past you and not noticed you or waved, I have had such a busy last few years that my head is always spinning with what is going on, I’m always thinking about something or another that I haven’t noticed 🙈 so hello 🙋🏻‍♂️ and how are you?

Most powerful Evo in Europe 1100bhp from a 2 litre engine 18 years ago! Showing the ability of Checkpoint with Sam and Dave.
We built this Mitsubishi Evo 8 drag racing car for Sam and Dave, we then had it painted by local airbrush artist Bob Falconer! It started off with a standard Evo 8 which was stripped to a shell.

The car featured in national magazines and newspapers and showcased the level of engineering, fabrication and diagnostic expertise available right here in Arbroath.
Every aspect of the car was custom-built, including the engine, turbo system, fuel system, transmission and management system. At the time it featured several modifications that were considered groundbreaking in the Evo world.
While most customers know us today for servicing, MOTs, diagnostics and repairs, projects like this demonstrate the depth of knowledge and experience behind Checkpoint.
Modern vehicles may be very different, but the ability to diagnose, engineer and solve complex problems remains exactly the same.
Some garages change parts. We find and fix faults.

The car used a highly modified resin filled block, CNC head, forged everything, world first at the time 8 injector manifold and cam timing to suit using unmarked verniers. Massive modified GT42 turbo and a 5” straight through exhaust fabricated in house, all controlled by a Motec ECU calibrated by Sam. A dog gearbox plus a parachute to slow things down. Clearly absolutely everything was uprated and modified. Every carbon fibre panel that was available at the time was used whilst Bon Falconer blended it all into the paintwork perfectly.
In testing Dave did standstill to over 165mph in 1/4 of a mile and that wasn’t on full power, it had another few hundred horsepower available!
