Motorcycle Instructor (DAS Qualified)

📍 Alva, Scotland
🏍️ Cameron Motorcycles

About Us

At Cameron Motorcycles, we’re not your typical training school.

We’re a family-run business with a proper community behind us — not a corporate setup run by people who’ve never taught a CBT in their life. The owner is still actively instructing day in, day out, so expectations are realistic, support is genuine, and you’ll never be answering to someone who doesn’t understand the job.

We take pride in doing things properly — high standards, modern teaching, and looking after both our students and our instructors.

The Role

We’re looking for a DVSA Approved DAS Motorcycle Instructor to join the team.

You’ll be working alongside the owner, delivering:

* CBT (Compulsory Basic Training)
* DAS courses (A1, A2, Category A)
* On-road training and Mod 1 / Mod 2 preparation

This is a hands-on role with a good mix of new riders and progression students.

What Makes This Different

Let’s be honest — a lot of schools are still running tired bikes and outdated kit.

We’re not.

You’ll be teaching on:

* Ducati Scramblers
* Brand new Yamaha MT-07s

Our equipment and bikes are well above industry standard, which makes a huge difference to both teaching quality and job satisfaction.

What We’re Looking For

* DVSA Approved DAS Instructor (essential)
* Confident delivering both CBT and DAS training
* Good communication skills with a range of students
* Professional but down-to-earth attitude
* Someone who enjoys being part of a team, not just clocking in and out

What You’ll Get

* Work alongside an owner who actually does the job
* Supportive, no-BS working environment
* Strong reputation and steady stream of students
* High-quality bikes and equipment
* A proper community feel — not just a training conveyor belt

The Important Bit

This role suits someone who:

* Is fed up working under unrealistic targets
* Wants to take pride in their instruction
* Enjoys building relationships with students
* Likes the idea of working in a business where their input actually matters

☕🍩 Cameron Motorcycles Update

We’re postponing our usual Coffee & Donut Day to support a fantastic local cause.

With the Carron Valley Charity Easter Run taking place on Sunday 5th April, we want to make sure all our customers and regulars can attend without feeling like they’re missing out.

So instead, our Coffee & Donut Day will now take place on Sunday 12th April (the second Sunday of the month).

We hope you all have an amazing time at the charity run and we look forward to seeing you the following weekend for coffee, donuts, and a catch-up!

☕🍩 Coffee, Donuts &… Waterproofs? 🌧️🏍️

This Sunday from 12pm, Cameron Motorcycles is hosting our Coffee & Donut Day... and of course, the weather forecast says rain 🙄

But let’s be honest… If anything, it just makes the coffee taste better and the donuts feel well-earned 🤣

So pull on your waterproofs, fire up the bike (or the car, we promise we won’t judge 😉), and join us for:

• Fresh coffee
• Proper donuts
• Great bikes
• Even better company

Rain or shine, we’ll be there from 12pm with the tea and coffee on and the laughs flowing. If it pours, we’ll just call it a “wet tyre performance demonstration.”

Hope to see you all on Sunday with your best rainy-day banter!

🏍🛵 How the CBT was created (and why it exists) 🛵🏍

With talks happening about possible changes to how CBTs are conducted, we thought now was a good time to look at where the CBT actually came from and why it exists in the first place.

The Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) was introduced in 1990 (a mere 2 years before we started operating) after a sharp rise in motorcycle accidents involving new and inexperienced riders. At the time, riders could legally get on a bike and ride on the road with very little structured training and it showed in the accident statistics.

The CBT was designed to make sure that before anyone rides solo on the road, they’ve at least:
• Been introduced to proper control of the bike
• Learned basic road positioning and hazard awareness
• Understood how vulnerable riders really are

It was never meant to make you an expert as it’s a foundation, not a finish line.

Over the years, the format has stayed mostly the same, even though:
• Traffic has increased
• Bikes have changed
• Rider demographics have shifted
• Expectations on safety are much higher

That’s why discussions around updating CBTs keep coming back. The goal has always been the same: reduce accidents and get riders started safely, but how that’s achieved may need to evolve.

Whatever changes come, good training will always matter more to us than just ticking a box.

If you’ve done a CBT before:
👉 What do you think works well?
👉 What do you think could be improved?
👉 Should CBT students have to complete a theory test before going out on the road?
