From organizing dinghy weeks to crossing the Atlantic, my old man, Andy Teague, is the reason the sailing bug runs so deep in our family and at High Tide Yacht Charters. He is the oil that helps run the ship when it comes to the non-sailing side of the business.

He has sailed pretty much everywhere, including Greece, Croatia, the Balearics, and the Caribbean. He even crossed the Atlantic in the 2008 ARC race, bagging an impressive 2nd place finish. He did have an unsuccessful attempt at the Round the Island Race, but that is firmly on the hit list to be sorted out.

Closer to home, he is a founding member and current Commodore of Abersoch Sailing Club, and he basically lives and breathes the North Wales sailing scene. From running Mirror Weeks and Dinghy Weeks to racing in countless National Championships, Andy has decades of stories on the water, including crossing the Irish Sea in a dinghy.

When he isn’t working and keeping the High Tide ship afloat, he’s teaching powerboating and PWC, or out cruising Cardigan Bay on his Sun Odyssey 36i, MOONDANCE, with fellow HYDRO instructors Andy ‘Roo’ Johnson and Jack Taylor.

Having someone with Andy's level of real world helm time and instruction background on the team means we don’t guess what makes a good boat or a safe itinerary. We actually know.

From Selling Crabs to Crafting Dream Charters: Meet Our Founder, James Teague

Some people find their calling later in life. For me, it started at age five in the Ionian Sea, selling crabs off the back of a charter yacht just to fund my next ice cream.

That early taste of the yachting life sparked a lifelong passion for the water. Today, I’ve upgraded from trading crustaceans to designing bespoke, luxury charter experiences worldwide with High Tide Yacht Charters. I founded High Tide after working alongside some of the most respected names in the industry, gaining deep, practical knowledge of both the bareboat and crewed markets, with a heavy focus on specialising in catamarans across the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

If you ask me where to drop anchor, there are a few regions I will always champion. I love Greece for the variety, the culture, and the food. My absolute favourite island there is Poros, which offers the perfect slice of traditional Greek charm. Across the Atlantic, the BVI is my choice for the pure sailing and exploration. As for what's next on my list, Sicily is at the very top for its natural wonders.

While I spent time racing Sigma 33s and training with the British Keelboat Academy, these days you'll find us cruising the beautiful waters of Cardigan Bay and Abersoch onboard our own Sun Odyssey 36i, MOONDANCE.

When it comes to holiday charters, I have specific favourites depending on the vibe you want. For a monohull, the Sun Odyssey 440 takes the crown every time because its walk-around side decks make it a dream to handle. For a first-time group charter in the Med, I highly recommend the Lagoon 46 because it hits the sweet spot for comfort. Finally, for the ultimate luxury, my absolute favourite yacht is the Fountaine Pajot Samana 59.

You’ll also catch me representing High Tide at major international industry events, from the Cannes Yachting Festival and the CRO.Y.A. Charter Show in Croatia, to the EMMYS Yacht Show.

Your itinerary isn’t built on guesswork, it’s built on real sailing experience and sharp market insight. I pride myself on an obsessive attention to detail and a client-first approach, specialising in crafting bespoke escapes that align perfectly with your vision.

What is the unsung hero of the charter experience? In our eyes its the tender.

When you’re planning a luxury charter, it’s easy to get caught up in the size of the sundeck or the layout of the cabins. But if you ask James and the High Tide Yacht Charters team, there is one critical asset that dictates the success of your trip more than many believe: it's the tender.

When our team proposes a yacht for your charter, we don’t just look at the vessel itself. We look closely at your enquiry and the activities you want to do, matching them directly to the capabilities of the yacht's tender.

The main yacht is your floating villa, but the tender is your vehicle for everything else. If it isn't the right fit, your planned activities simply won't happen.

Water Sports Enthusiasts: If your group wants to wakeboard, waterski, or pull inflatables, you need a tender with serious horsepower and a proper towing setup. A standard crew shuttle won’t cut it.

Divers & Fishermen: Remote reef diving and deep-sea fishing require a specialised, rugged tender equipped with easy boarding ladders, tank racks, or rod holders.

Beach & Shore Explorers: If you want to island-hop or land on deserted beaches, you need a tender with a shallow draft or a beach-landing bow ramp so you can step ashore safely and dry.

Elegant Evenings: If you plan on dressing up for dinners ashore, a damp, open-air RIB will ruin the evening before it starts. We look for enclosed or high-sided limousine-style tenders to keep you pristine.

From a purely operational standpoint, the tender is the lifeline of the entire charter. It is the vessel the crew relies on behind the scenes to keep the five-star service moving seamlessly. This is how the chef zips into local markets at dawn to source fresh, local ingredients and premium requests.

The High Tide Advice: Don't just book a yacht because you like the master cabin. Let James and the team know exactly how you want to spend your days, and we will ensure the entire yacht’s package is perfectly equipped to make it happen.

Fresh out of the wrapper and ready for the islands: Meet MINTED ONE.

There is honestly nothing like that "new yacht" feeling. This stunning brand-new Lagoon 60 accommodating up to 8 guests has just arrived in the Virgin Islands, and she is a total dream. Everything is crisp, modern, and incredibly spacious—it’s basically a floating luxury villa.

The flybridge is the place to be for sunset drinks, and the layout is built for those long, lazy Caribbean lunches with the best views in the world. Whether you want to bar-hop through the BVI or find a quiet, turquoise corner of the USVI to call your own, MINTED ONE is the perfect place to do it.

You can hit the Soggy Dollar in Jost Van D**e one day and spend a silent afternoon in a hidden St. John bay the next. Being one of the first guests on a yacht this fresh is a pretty special experience, and if you’ve been waiting for the right moment to get the group together, this is it.

Currently booking for the 2026 season. Spaces for the Virgin Islands always fill up fast, so DM us to grab your dates or for a peek at her full gallery!

One of the most popular catamarans on the water, the Lagoon 42, she’s ideal for bareboat charters. Easy to handle, spacious, and designed for relaxed cruising whether you’re sailing with friends or family.

With 3 or 4 cabin layouts, there’s plenty of room onboard without ever feeling complicated to manage. The Lagoon 42 has generous outdoor living space, while the bright interior saloon and aft deck allow for easy days at anchor.

The Lagoon 42 is built with practicality in mind. Simple sailing controls, excellent visibility for the helm, and stability when sailing make her a favourite for both first-time charterers and experienced sailors alike.

Think slow mornings with coffee on deck, dropping anchor in quiet bays, and hopping between islands entirely on your own schedule.

No crew, no fixed plans, just you, the boat, and the freedom to explore.

Can you have a jet ski on your yacht charter?

In many cases, yes but it depends on the yacht and the cruising location.

Some yachts come equipped with jet skis (also known as PWCs), while others can arrange them on request. They’re a great addition if you’re looking to add a bit of speed and fun to your time on the water.

That said, there are a couple of things to keep in mind...

Certain countries require a valid PWC (Personal Watercraft) licence to operate a jet ski, and in some destinations usage may be restricted to designated areas or subject to local regulations. Your crew will always guide you on what’s allowed and ensure everything is done safely and correctly.

If having a jet ski onboard is important to you, just let us know. We can recommend the right yachts and destinations to match.
