🔧 WE’RE HIRING – VEHICLE TECHNICIAN / MECHANIC 🔧

Following the retirement of a long-standing member of our workshop team, we are looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join us at GoodTread Tyre & Autocare in Alness.

We are a busy, established family-run business, serving the Highlands since 1976, and we are looking for someone reliable and experienced who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a friendly team.

💷 Salary: £35,000–£42,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

🕐 Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm, with alternate Saturdays 8:30am–3:00pm.

The role will include servicing and general mechanical repairs, fault finding and diagnostics, brakes, suspension and other routine workshop work.

An MOT Tester qualification would be preferred, however this isn’t essential as training can be provided for the right candidate.

We were delighted to play a small part in this incredible journey. 🏍️🐾

During her Land’s End to John o’ Groats challenge with the wonderful Mojo, she called into Goodtread Tyre & Autocare with a tyre problem. Unfortunately, the tyre she needed had to be specially ordered, so we helped find accommodation at The Station Hotel for the weekend before getting her safely back on the road on Monday.

Huge congratulations on completing this amazing challenge Sarah and Mojo and raising funds for such a worthwhile cause. It was a pleasure to meet you both, and we wish you all the very best for your next adventure! 💙👏

🏁 WE DID IT! 🏍️🐾

After an incredible adventure from Land's End to John o' Groats, we're finally home.

Over the journey we've travelled over two thousand miles together, crossed England, Wales and Scotland, ridden some of the most beautiful roads in the UK, battled mechanical problems, biting flies, mutant fleas, torrential rain and scorching sunshine... and somehow came out smiling.

MoJo has:
🐾 Made countless new friends
🍦 Enjoyed doggy ice cream
🪨 Climbed more rocks than I can count
💨 Perfected his beach and muddy puddle zoomies
❤️ Been the best travelling companion I could have asked for.

This trip was never just about reaching John o' Groats.

It was about raising awareness and funds for Romsey Mill, who support young people, children and families when they need it most.

A huge thank you to everyone who:

❤️ Sent messages of encouragement
❤️ Offered cups of tea and treats for MoJo
❤️ Helped fix the bike when things went wrong

Last Friday, we celebrated the retirement of John Macrae after an incredible 30 years of loyal service at GoodTread Tyre & Autocare.

John has been much more than a mechanic over the years. He’s been a friend, mentor and valued member of the GoodTread team, always ready with a smile, a laugh and, of course, a song in the workshop! 🎤

We would like to say a huge thank you for everything you’ve done over the past three decades. It was wonderful to celebrate with members of the GoodTread team, former colleagues and friends, and a special thank you to Harry Gow Bakery for the fantastic retirement cake! 🎂

Retirement won’t keep John too busy for long though! Between caddying on the golf course and enjoying a well-earned break, we are delighted that he will still be popping back to lend us a hand from time to time. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thank you for 30 fantastic years, John. We wish you a long, happy and well-deserved retirement, and look forward to seeing you back in the workshop every now and then. You’ll always be part of the GoodTread team. 💙💛
