She's a wide one this... 👀

Built to the maximum permissible width on an Iveco Daily 7.2T, this bespoke body has been designed specifically for the nationwide distribution of horticultural products using specialist Danish trolleys.

By working closely with the supplying dealer, salesman and end user from the outset, we were able to take a different approach to the vehicle specification. Rather than increasing the overall length, we widened the body to maximise carrying capacity whilst accommodating the same number of cages.

The result? A more manoeuvrable vehicle, improved route flexibility, and a body perfectly suited to the customer's operational requirements.

A great example of how the best solutions are often found through collaboration, understanding the application, and challenging the standard approach.

Fourth round of repeat builds now underway on these very bespoke Ford Motor Company Transit Luton conversions, complete with specialist DHOLLANDIA Tail Lifts & Ramps - UK cantilever tail-lifts, destined for the localised distribution of NHS beds.

There's no better endorsement than a customer coming back time and time again, and we're proud to be building another batch of these highly specialised vehicles, designed around a very specific operational requirement.

Repeat orders like this are a testament to the collaborative approach taken by everyone involved — from initial specification through to final delivery.

The SPV department is absolutely rammed to the hilt this morning with municipal and utility-style conversions heading through the workshop.

From tipper tool-pod builds and bespoke utility bodies to ramped drop-sides and everything in between, the team are turning their hands to the lot.

It's always great to see such a varied mix of work on the shop floor, showcasing the breadth of capability, craftsmanship and flexibility that goes into every build.

You'll recall seeing this one last week before its tail-lift was fitted...

What might look like a straightforward installation on the surface involved some serious engineering behind the scenes — combined with a healthy dose of common sense and commercial awareness.

With the vehicle being a Ford E-Transit at 4.25T GVW, careful consideration was required when re-positioning and integrating Ford's factory rear lighting system, including the OEM GSR-compliant sensor package, alongside the cantilever tail-lift installation.

The result? A solution that maintains functionality, compliance and practicality without compromising the end user's operational requirements.

A great example of what can be achieved when manufacturer, converter, customer and end user requirements are all considered from the outset.

Engineering is rarely about making things complicated — it's about making them work.

Andy Ratcliffe from Thomas's Group rings me yesterday...

"Scott, we'll be round in the morning to collect the Sheldon Clayton Logistics Ltd curtainsider. You're in early, aren't you?"

Me:

"Yes mate, 6:30am will give me chance to open the factory and grab my first cuppa."

Andy:

"Sound, see you in the morning."

Fast forward to 6:04am this morning...

📞 Phone rings.

Andy:

"You here mate? I'm just dropping Ray off with you..."

Customers, eh? 😂

All good though, and worth the early start to see another shiny new truck heading off to its new home.

In all seriousness, a huge thank you to Andy, Ray and everyone at Thomas's Group and Sheldon Clayton Logistics Ltd for their continued support.

Relationships like these are built over many years and are something we're incredibly proud of.

Nothing better than repeat business...

Another batch of vehicles for Millers Bakery, ordered through our friends at Marshall Mercedes-Benz Truck & Van — thank you as always for the continued support.

When customers come back time and time again, it tells you that the original specification was right, the vehicle performed as intended, and the partnership works.

The chosen chassis? Mercedes-Benz Sprinter... again.

Each vehicle features a fully painted box body, built without a tail-lift and manufactured to very specific dimensions requested by the customer. As with all bakery and food distribution applications, practicality and operational suitability are every bit as important as appearance.

A straightforward specification on paper perhaps, but one where attention to detail is absolutely key.

As always, a massive thank you to Jason Kemp at MAN Truck & Bus UK for his continued support and for entrusting us with another order.

There's something particularly striking about this combination. The graphite grey chassis cab paired with the powder-coated finish of the factory dropside is a match made in heaven — a vehicle that looks every bit as good as it performs.

She's nearly there...

A long and detailed process to ensure this one was delivered exactly as the customer requested, and all the more important given it's the business's first brand-new vehicle purchase.

From selecting the right chassis, agreeing the optimum body dimensions, choosing the curtain colour, considering aerodynamic performance and ensuring the correct load restraint specification, every detail has been discussed, challenged and refined along the way.

The result is a vehicle that not only looks the part but is perfectly suited to the job it has been designed to do.

A big thank you to William Hopewell and Nathan Worthy for their patience, input and collaboration throughout the process. It's been a pleasure working together to bring the Peak Plastics Ltd vision to life.

Here at J C Payne, we like to think of ourselves as one big family.

That's why the Senior Management Board make a point of taking time out to thank every single member of the business for their hard work, loyalty and integrity.

The success we enjoy today is built on the efforts of the entire team, and it's important that we recognise that.

Our next opportunity to do just that will be at the annual Summer BBQ, where members of the SMB will be swapping boardroom discussions for aprons and tongs, cooking and serving burgers and hot dogs for the whole business.

It's a small gesture, but one that reflects what J C Payne is all about — people, teamwork and appreciation.
