🚐⚠️ Another Ford Transit Wet Belt Failure! ⚠️🚐

Another Transit in the workshop after suffering a wet belt failure.

With the timing belt having stripped several teeth, we stripped the engine down to inspect for any internal damage before going any further.

The good news…

✅ All cylinders passed the pressure test
✅ No bent valves
✅ Engine saved from a complete replacement

Now it’s rebuild time! 🔧

This Transit is receiving:

✅ Genuine Ford timing belt kit
✅ Genuine gaskets throughout
✅ New vacuum pump (the original had failed)
✅ Rebuilt using the correct Ford procedures and timing tools

This is exactly why we always recommend replacing the wet belt before it fails. A snapped or stripped belt can quickly turn into a very expensive repair.

🚗🔥 AND SHE LIVES! 🔥🚗

After being off the road since 2016, this classic Ford XR2 fired into life after a few hours of Sunday work from the team! 👌

To get her running properly:

🔧 Old spark plugs removed and cleaned
⛽ Fuel tank removed and cleaned
⛽ Fresh fuel added
🔧 A little fuel down the carb to get her fired up
💧 Quick coolant flush to clear out any debris

The parts are arriving and tomorrow we’ll be carrying out a full service, including:

✅ New gearbox oil
✅ Fresh coolant
✅ Brake fluid change
✅ Full service items

The aim is to get this little XR2 driving and stopping like it should before we continue with the rest of the recommissioning work. 🔥

🔧 FORD XR2 RECOMMISSIONING UNDERWAY! 🔧🚗

This classic Ford XR2 has been off the road since 2016 and is now in with us to be brought back to life! 👌

So far, the recommissioning work includes:

✅ Full service
✅ Compression test
✅ New gaskets
✅ Fuel tank removed and cleaned
✅ Fuel lines cleaned through
✅ Fresh fuel added

After nearly a decade off the road, this little XR2 is slowly coming back to life and we’re working through everything needed to get it running properly again. 🔥

🚐🔧 TRANSIT CAMPER CONVERSION IN FOR A WET BELT REPLACEMENT 🔧🚐

This Transit camper conversion came into us for a wet belt replacement after previously having a BGA wet belt kit fitted elsewhere.

Unfortunately, the vehicle was suffering from serious oil leaks:

❌ Front main seal leaking badly
❌ Sump seal leaking badly

The previous kit was removed and the vehicle is now being properly repaired.

This Mercedes-AMG C63 S came in to have a number of issues rectified after previous repairs carried out at a bodyshop.

Our work included:

✅ 2 front engine mounts replaced
✅ Gearbox mount replaced
✅ Snapped gearbox bolts removed and replaced
✅ Several coolant pipes replaced
✅ Engine bay cleaned and detailed
✅ Missing and incorrectly fitted parts identified and replaced

This isn’t just servicing and brakes – we’re looking for someone who enjoys getting stuck into bigger jobs.

⚠️🚗 DID YOU KNOW? 🚗⚠️

One of the most common causes of Ford EcoBoost engine failure is using the wrong engine oil.

The 1.0 EcoBoost relies on a wet timing belt that runs inside the engine oil. Using an oil that doesn’t meet Ford’s specification can contribute to the belt deteriorating more quickly.

As the belt breaks down:
❌ Rubber debris contaminates the oil
❌ The oil pick-up strainer can become blocked
❌ Oil pressure drops
❌ The engine can become starved of oil, leading to severe damage and potentially complete engine failure 💥

💡 Our recommendation:
✅ Service your EcoBoost every 8,000 miles using the correct Ford-approved oil and filter.
✅ Consider replacing the wet belt at around 70,000 miles to reduce the risk of costly engine damage.

Preventative maintenance is far cheaper than an engine rebuild or replacement.
