🔧 CONDITION & DRIVING

The Alfa starts, runs and drives nicely, having been driven to our premises without issue.

For a 25-year-old vehicle, it presents reasonably well, particularly the lovely tan leather interior.

Naturally, there are age-related marks and cosmetic imperfections.

Most notably, there is a dent to the passenger-side rear quarter extending slightly towards the door. The passenger door opens and closes normally, with no observed water ingress or effect on the interior.

A slight intermittent squeak has been noted, potentially from a
pulley, although the source has not been confirmed.

No engine management warning light remains illuminated while the engine is running.

🔧 How does a £600 injector job turn into a £3,000 engine refurbishment?

If you know Renaults, you probably already know the answer...

This Trafic came to us for what should have been a relatively straightforward injector job.

Unfortunately, the injectors had other ideas.

After around an hour and a half wrestling with a badly seized injector, they eventually fractured during removal. Just like that, a job expected to cost around £600 had become a much bigger repair.

But we don’t give up on a vehicle that easily.

Rather than writing the van off, the engine came out, was stripped down and professionally refurbished in-house.

It turned a £600 repair into a job costing around £3,000, which is never the news you want to give a customer. But when the alternative is giving up on an otherwise useful van, sometimes it’s worth fighting for it.

And that’s exactly what we did.

Engine rebuilt, van back together and back on the road where it belongs.

We specialise in Renaults and build our engines in-house, so when a job goes from “simple repair” to something much more serious, we can see it through from start to finish.
