The vehicle has been subject to an extensive refurbishment by ourselves, work has included, full service, gear selector kit, interior mirror, fuel filler neck rubber, rear brake discs and pads, trailing arm bushes, brake disc backing plates, track rod, drag link ball joint, front axle bushes, body stays, fuse box cover, new rear crossmember, park switch, reverse light switch, indicator stalk, rear brake callipers, front and rear coil springs, front brake calliper, head light bezels, fuel tank breather hose. 1949 Land Rover Series 1 80” Station Wagon Tickford Model

We are delighted to offer this exceptionally rare example. Uk registered and supplied, right hand drive example. One of only 70 made in both left and right hand drive for worldwide distribution. There were 30 right hand drive models and only 4 were supplied in the Uk. This being one of them, making this vehicle incredible rare. It was sold new by Lungess & Sons Ltd, Leicester. Finished in both Sage green and light grey with matching interior.

The factory build in and out dates are 11th August 1949-22nd August 1949. Then being registered 23rd August 1949. The vehicle comes with the original buff logbook, new style V5 document, well documented pictures of the restoration. The vehicle was sold to Common House Garage Limited also known as Dunsfold Land Rovers Surrey in 1975 who owned the vehicle for 18 years. This vehicle was Brian Bashall the founder of the Dunsfold collections personal daily vehicle for a period of time. The vehicle was well featured and seen at events such as the 40th anniversary. Also in the 1980’s it was extensively used by Land Rover at events. The vehicle then came into the ownership of the late Mr Ings in March 1993 who was a very private person and had amassed an extremely unique and rare Land Rover Collection. During his ownership he completed a full nut and bolt restoration on the vehicle.

We believe this vehicle is the third oldest surviving example which includes one prototype and so is the second oldest production Tickford Station Wagon. So a remarkably rare vehicle and a must have to any serious Land Rover collector. A majority of Tickfords were finished in Bronze Green however some of these earlier vehicles were Sage Green, going through the restoration pictures it is clear that the vehicle retained a lot of original light green (sage green) paint. This makes it an extremely rare example indeed. It has recently had a light recommissioning by ourselves, a list of works can be shown to any interested party. It will be supplied fully serviced and ready to use for the next owner.
