A few moments of him doing what he loved best... building race cars, sharing stories, and leaving his mark on everything he touched.

The Original Venice Crew family has lost an icon.

Ted Sutton took the final checkered flag Wednesday evening.

An alumnus of the Shelby shop in Venice, Ted worked on many of Carroll Shelby’s special projects. He put the first 427 into a Cobra chassis, worked with Jim O’Leary on the Tiger project, and served as Crew Chief on the GT350 Mustang.

Ted was a great family man, a wonderful mechanic, and a first-class fabricator.

His skill, spirit, and legacy will forever remain part of the Original Venice Crew.

God bless Ted.

Behind the scenes at Jay Leno's Garage with Jim Marietta and Ted Sutton of the Original Venice Crew.

Ted Sutton, pictured closest to Jay, served as Crew Chief on the Mustangs built in Venice, and having the OVC story shared on Jay’s show was a true honor.

Jay was every bit the gracious host you’d expect, and without question, a real car guy. From Mustangs to steam vehicles, his knowledge and passion for iconic cars runs deep.
