TOYOTA HILUX 1KD FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER
Manufacturers typically keep components to the absolute minimum needed to do the job. And so it is for the Toyota 1KD Hilux Intercooler sitting on top of the engine. Whilst the position may work okay at 100km/h on the highway; get off road or when speeds are low, there just isn’t enough air speed to allow the Intercooler to do its job effectively. Add to that the heat sink effect because the Intercooler sits on top of the engine with hot air trapped inside, and you can see how it’s simply a far from optimised solution.
Our front mount kit gets the Intercooler out front in the cool airflow, and away from the engine heat to dramatically lower air intake temperatures. This provides a denser charge to the engine which in turn allows us to make more power.
Getting cool air into the engine (larger better placed Intercooler) and getting air out quicker (larger better flowing exhaust) are the first two steps to help your engine live a happier life and are key supporting elements when you begin tuning for more power, torque and fuel economy. ISUZU D-Max 4JJ1 💪Monster Power💪
This engine has been stroked to 3.1 litres and runs a compound turbo setup with the back turbo being 106mm and pushing 100psi.
The 943hp and 1690nm is controlled by an ECU-SHOP stand-alone ECU.
Whilst you won’t need this much power in your daily driver, it does show you what’s possible.
