There’s a road in Spain that locals call La Ruta del Silencio — the . And the name says everything.
No traffic. No noise. Just the engine humming beneath you, the wind, and kilometre after kilometre of empty backroads curving through a Spain that most travellers never see — villages where time stands still, horizons that open with every bend.
Right now I’m riding it alongside the team at , sharing the road as they cross the country. Some nights under canvas, tents pitched where the silence is loudest. Others in handpicked hotels, a good meal and a proper rest before the next stretch. Camping and comfort, woven into one journey.
This is what riding Spain should feel like. Not a route on a map — a country you breathe in from the saddle.
The road is calling. The only question is when you answer it.

Heading to Spain? I always carry my GHIC - it's free, fast and it can get you state medical care if the worst happens. But here’s the thing: GHIC helps with emergency treatment and replacement prescriptions, yes - but it doesn’t replace travel insurance. I bring both. Always.

Why? GHIC gets you into the state system; travel insurance covers repatriation, long-term costs and the gaps GHIC won’t. Remember the checklist: apply for GHIC, get travel insurance, pack enough meds and keep records of prescriptions. Simple admin: big peace of mind.
