Another successful handover completed by the Berthon Spain Management team.

The Pershing 108 is an exceptional yacht, but with three MTU engines producing up to 2,638hp each, almost 8,000hp combined, and capable of speeds exceeding 42 knots, she is certainly not a vessel for the inexperienced.

Our team has been supporting the new captain throughout the transition and engine issues, sharing operational knowledge, vessel systems expertise and practical handling guidance to ensure a confident handover.

Depending on the service interval (50hr, 250hr, 500hr, annual, etc.) A Yanmar Marine Engine should be serviced by an official Yanmar dealer servicing the following:

* Engine oil replacement
* Oil filter replacement
* Fuel filter replacement
* Water separator inspection and drainage
* Air filter inspection or replacement
* Drive belt inspection and tension check
* Coolant level and condition check
* Seawater pump inspection
* Impeller inspection or replacement (if due)
* Hose and hose clamp inspection
* Battery and charging system checks
* Engine mounts inspection
* Exhaust system inspection
* Leak checks (oil, fuel, coolant, seawater)

All In a days work with Berthons Service team.

Power tools were needed on the Port side engine to remove it from its propulsion system allowing safe removal. Elbows had completely fused with rust and salt corrosion, 2 hrs later it came free.

Just goes to show the damage caused over the years when your yacht is not maintained to standard.
