🚗⛽🔋 𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗟, 𝗗𝗜𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗟, 𝗛𝗬𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗗 𝗢𝗥 𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖 - 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗡?
I get asked this a lot, and the answer is pretty simple:
𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 “𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁” 𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲.
There’s only the one that best suits how you actually use the car.
👉 𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗟
For lower mileage, shorter journeys and local driving, petrol is often the sensible choice.
👉 𝗗𝗜𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗟
Despite what you might hear, diesel is far from dead. If you do plenty of motorway miles or regularly cover long distances, it can still make a lot of sense.
👉 𝗛𝗬𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗗
Good for mixed driving and particularly useful if you spend a lot of time in town or stop-start traffic.
👉 𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖
Great in the right circumstances — particularly if you can charge at home and most of your journeys are predictable.
But this is where people sometimes get it wrong…
They decide what fuel they want 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 they decide what sort of driving they actually do.
Someone pottering around locally and doing 5,000 km a year probably doesn’t need a diesel.
Likewise, someone regularly crossing Spain on the motorway shouldn’t automatically rule one out because they’ve been told diesel is old technology.
And I certainly wouldn’t buy an electric car just because everyone keeps telling us that’s where the future is heading.
𝗕𝘂𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄.
Before choosing, ask yourself:
✅ How many kilometres do I really drive?
✅ Are most journeys short or long?
✅ Do I mainly drive in town or on motorways?
✅ Can I charge at home?
✅ How long am I likely to keep the car?
✅ What is it actually going to cost me to run?
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆.
It’s the car that fits your life. 🚘
