Just south of Almeria is the Spanish coastal resort / town of Aguadulce. Long sandy beaches, paseo and chiringuitos but in my opinion its crowning glory is the stunning marina area. This is ringed by 20 + restaurants with some facing both the marina on one side with the beach on the other.

The coastal road between Aguadulce and Almeria is also stunning with three viewpoints - future publication

Distance from HPB 69 KM / Time 59 mins

Built in the 18 century and located in the hills around 15 KM north of Albox. Cultural asset of national interest and well worth a visit. If only for the drive and views all around.

For opening hours please see the website and the drive from Albox is also very pleasant and interesting. There is also a rather fine restaurant on site.

Car features is our much loved, VW Polo 7 Speed auto in its last few months of service. We will of course replace with an equivalent.

Reported last night a slight tear in the front tyre wall. We will not scrimp on such things so first thing Monday morning 2 x new tyres to our lovely VW Polo "R-Line" 7 Speed Automatic. Despite them only been 20% worn, the right thing to do was to replace both with new. We also try to support local businesses wherever possible.

No quibble, no charge and delivered back to HPB at 09:30!

Car featured is the absolutely terrific VW Polo 7 Speed Automatic, now entering its final 6 months or so of service before we renew with similar.

For those lucky enough to be at HPB during December & January. The Christmas lights are on in the Pueblo, throughout the whole village. It is a great place to wander, dine and enjoy at any time of the year but at Christmas time, a little added magic.

Added this Spring, the Car featured is our "Entry" level car, the SEAT Ibiza complete with Full Link Apple CarPlay / Android Auto. Just a great little car.

Improving all the time, One of the five course in the area, Marina Golf is good test whilst affording some spectacular coastal views from its enviable situation above Mojacar.

The clubhouse bar / restaurant has recently been refurbished and is open daily (except Mondays) serving a fine selection of food, snacks and drinks. An thoroughly enjoyable golf day out.

Car featured is the highly popular VW Golf 7 Speed Automatic R-Line. Consistently your and our favourite. Currently having a weeks rest before its next 7 week assignment!

Excellent progress over the last few weeks on the planned drainage works. According to the assigned project manager the next stage from the shop to HPB main gates is due to start on Monday 17th.

For the first few days it will make vehicular access to our base a little awkward together with the expected parking restrictions. Fortunately all our cars are out with very few planned movements over the next few weeks.

Car featured is our large, top of the range, 7 speed automatic FORD Tourneo Courier with a huge boot. Ideal for golfers or those with extra luggage or mobility equipment.

There is a new walk marked from Los Gallardos, "Cueva de las Palomas". Starting at the church, its about 7 Km and 2 hours up into the old mining area between Los Gallardos and Bedar.

A few scrambles across rocks along the way but other than that its is pleasant enough with points of interest signed along the route.

Car featured is the All Electric DACIA Spring Extreme Automatic, booked across different hires for the next five weeks.

We like our cars in tip top condition and the All-Electric DACIA Spring EV suffered a little "d**k" to the boot. We do not know how or who but is now fully repaired and back as it should be!

Final delivery of the new magnetic warning lights with geolocation. They are placed in all of our cars. Should you experience a puncture or indeed a breakdown, these lights are much easier and safer than walking to place a red triangle the required distance down a motorway hard shoulder.

These V16 with geolocation will be a legal requirement from January 1st, 2026 year but can be legally used this year instead of the red warning triangles. Much better and safer we think hence we have completed this in advance of the required date.

Simply twist the base and place on the roof of the vehicle. They are connected to the DGT network and alert authorities of your presence. A reminder that our insurance also covers "VIP" recovery.

Car features is our All-Electric DACIA Spring Extreme with a WTLP range of 230KM. Unlimited recharges are included from our point at Restaurante La Venta de Alfaix with further charging points available at HPB Alfaix. This 13th century castle sits above the historic city of Lorca and both are well worth a visit. There is plenty to do and see both in Lorca itself and the castle above. Start with the tourist office within the city for a handy map and highlighted places of interest.

You can also stay over at the reasonably priced high class Parador Hotel, sympathetically built within the castle grounds.

Just outside the stunningly beautiful coastal town of Agua Amarga is the ancient Olivo Milenario. Considered to be one of the oldest in the Mediterranean basin, this olive tree is apparently between 1500 / 2000 years old and marked on Google / Apple Maps

Please note the final 500 odd metres is via a well defined path but worth it to see something still living that is that old! Especially when combined with a visit to Agua Amarga.

Good sandy beach adjacent to one of Villaricos small harbours. Gently slopes into the sea and also very good for snorkelling as tehre are a few rock clusters. Lunch can be taken in Chiringuito Cala Siret where there is a wide variety of fish cooked to order over a wood fire - Fabulous

Aside from the large traditional Sunday market, Villaricos has a wide variety of bars and restaurants as well as two harbours. It is a pleasant walk along the promenade.
