🚗🔧 Range Rover Sport L320 in the workshop today!

This one came in after another workshop had installed a used transmission control module (TCM). The problem? ❌ On these vehicles, you can’t just plug in a used TCM because they’re VIN-locked to each individual car.

✅ Ideally, the TCM should’ve been virginized before installation or the data cloned from the old unit. Unfortunately, neither was done, so the vehicle arrived at my workshop with the module fitted but not programmed or configured.

💻 Luckily, with the right software and tools, I was able to configure and program the used TCM directly via the OBD port — saving the customer a lot of time, money, and hassle having to remove it again.

🚗💡 Today’s job: Ford Focus instrument cluster!

This one came in with the classic faults – ❌ no communication, ⚡ intermittent stalling, and sometimes it just wouldn’t start at all. If you tapped the top of the dashboard, the car would spring back to life!

🔧 The cause? Very common on these – the solder joints on the PCB connector crack over time. The fix is to re-flow and re-solder those connections for a solid repair.

✅ All sorted and back on the road – just another day at Ultimate Diagnostics!

🚗❄️ SEAT Ibiza in today with air conditioning problems ❄️🚗

This Ibiza has already been to two different workshops to have the A/C re-gassed. Each time it lasted about two weeks before it started blowing warm again.

Today we carried out a full leak check and found the problem — the evaporator located inside the dashboard is leaking.

That explains why the gas keeps escaping so quickly. Unfortunately, re-gassing alone won’t solve it — the faulty evaporator needs replacing to get the system working properly again.

🔧 Peugeot 407 Instrument Cluster Screen Repair 🔧

This Peugeot 407 came in with a faulty instrument cluster screen — the display was faded and barely readable. We stripped the cluster, removed the old screen, and fitted a brand-new replacement.

Now the display is crisp, clear, and fully functional again ✅

✅ ECU Repair Completed and Confirmed ✅

This ECU came to me after a persistent crankshaft signal fault. It had already had a new crank sensor installed and the wiring had been cut out and replaced by another garage — but the fault still remained.

After careful diagnostics, I traced the problem back to a fault inside the ECU itself. I opened it up, carried out the necessary repair, and have been bench testing it to confirm everything is now working as it should.

Crankshaft signal is now being received perfectly — issue resolved. 💪
