SPANISH GOVERNMENT TO IMPLEMENT TAX DEDUCTION IN FUEL TO CUSHION THE BLOW OF INCREASED FUEL COSTS
MADRID, March 20 (Reuters) - Spain on Friday will reduce the value-added tax on fuel products to 10% from 21% as part of measures ​to cushion the economic blow from the Middle East conflict, SER radio station ​reported, citing sources familiar with the plans.
Madrid also plans to suspend the ⁠excise duty on hydrocarbons, which would lead to an immediate reduction in the price of ​diesel and petrol of between 0.30 euros and 0.40 euros ($0.35-$0.46) per litre, the SER report ​added.

⚠️ Stellantis Recalls 📣 Vehicles with 1.5 HDI Engine (2017–2023) 🔧🚗

After several issues with the 1.5 HDI engine used between 2017 and 2023, Stellantis has decided to launch a recall for the affected vehicles.

🛠️ The engine, found in models from Citroën, DS Automobiles, Opel/Vauxhall, Fiat, and Peugeot, has a defect involving the timing chain that connects to the camshaft. Due to excessive wear, the chain may break prematurely.

📅 All cars built between October 2017 and January 2023 with this engine will be recalled. During that time, the chain used was 7 mm wide, which is prone to issues and is to be replaced by a more durable 8 mm version, which doesn’t show early wear.

🧪 The inspection process will be simple:

- All affected vehicles will be brought to official brand workshops.
- Technicians will run a sound diagnosis test to detect any abnormal engine noise.
- If no noise is detected → the engine will be reprogrammed to reduce the risk of failure.
- If unusual noise is present → the chain will be replaced.

⏳ However, the process will take a long time due to the large number of vehicles involved.
🚗 Thousands are expected to be affected, especially in countries like France.
